Job title
*Production Team Member*
Reports to
*Daniel Richards, Production Manager*
Job purpose
To help prepare, produce and fill award winning chutneys, jams, curds and marmalades from raw prepared ingredients using 200kg cooking vessels. It is physically tough but a rewarding job, there are currently about 6 people on the site so although there are different roles, getting the job done is a team effort. There may also be a warehouse element to the job. The company is expanding, so it is possible that this position could develop if the individual wanted to progress within the company.
Duties and responsibilities
· To prepare for the days production by ensuring all machinery etc is turned on and in good order
· To weigh out ingredients for the recipes and complete the appropriate paperwork
· To keep working areas clean and safe
· To fill cooked products into glass jars
· To cook batch products in steam jacketed 200kg cooking pans
· To intake ingredients into the warehouse and take charge of some warehouse duties. If not already qualified, forklift license training will be given
· To help around the factory in whatever department needs that support, and be prepared to undertake training for that department
· To take responsibility for making fantastic products out of high\-quality ingredients to meet the team’s high bar for quality
· To ask for help if needed
· To be flexible in attitude
Qualifications
A background in food manufacturing/food service/catering would be a benefit but mainly the company is looking for a flexible and amenable approach to working in a team. It is essential that the applicant is interested in good food and is keen to produce high quality products. Full training will be given so anyone can be considered, Cherry Tree is looking for the right person to fit in with the team rather than necessarily an experienced food producer.
Working conditions
· The factory works a Monday to Thursday 4 x 10 hour working week, currently 7am to 5\.20pm although these times need to be flexible. There isn’t much space, so ingredients are bought in a “just in time” basis and need to be used pretty much immediately. If there are manufacturing problems encountered, we still have to find a way to finish the day’s/week’s program to use up the fresh or frozen ingredients, hence the need for flexibility.
· Holiday – 20 days \+ 8 days bank holidays in the first full year then 25 days \+ 8 in the second year.
· Smoking – nonsmoker only. There will be no opportunity given to smoke during the working day
Physical requirements
· This is a physically demanding job, we have done everything we can to minimize lifting, particularly from low down but there is quite a bit of heavy lifting from waist height, 25kg bags of sugar being the heaviest.
· The current team have chosen to only have 20 minutes off during the working day, hence the 17\.20 finish time. However, this is always up for discussion and an earlier start is possible, allowing for more breaks if that is important.
