Job description:

Reporting to: Shift Manager

Main Purpose: The production operator is responsible for maintaining the efficiency and quality, packing product to the correct customer requirements and BRC quality standards. This position is a support role for several areas of manufacturing, including but not limited to thermoforming.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working in accordance with the company’s BRC Certification, Health \& Safety policy and good manufacturing practice.

  • Perform production duties such as packing, taping, manual lifting, labelling operations and sorting.

  • Ensure products are packed correctly in accordance to the packing specification for each order.

  • Carry out and document quality inspections per SOP, accurately and on time.

  • Report any defects or out of spec product, to the shift manager or quality coordinator.

  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and signed.

  • Carry out all machine clean downs as instructed on the SOP.

  • Ensure removal of all good products from within the skeletal waste before re\-starting machine during roll changes.

  • Ensure all waste or defect product is segregated and placed in relevant containers, to enable appropriate removal.

  • The correct PPE must be worn where stated and safe working practices adhered to.

  • Always maintain a clean, organized and safe environment.

  • Take an active part in any training and development programmes.
Personal Responsibilities

Health \& Safety

1\. To follow all site rules and responsibilities under the company’s Health \& Safety at Work Policy.

2\. To ensure you use all equipment within the production area correctly and it is properly maintained.

3\. Report any safety infringement and ensure any health and safety issues/suggestions are forwarded to the Health and Safety Officer.

4\. To know the locations of emergency exits and practice correct evacuation procedures.

5\. Ensure the correct handling procedures for lifting and potentially hazardous products are followed.

6\. Operatives must be aware of waste separation and recycling requirements.

7\. To carry out all duties in accordance with Company’s policy on Health \& Safety, wearing protective clothing/equipment supplied, at all times.

Other Responsibilities

1\. To clock in and out at the start and finish of shift to record attendance.

2\. To work as trained, with regard to all tasks undertaken within their role.

3\. To maintain the required performance and accuracy standards.

4\. To work flexibly, on whichever duty (as per training/qualification), when and where required, whilst on shift.

Quality

1\. Strictly adhere to BRC dress code, PPE and hygiene standards throughout the site at all times.

2\. To be responsible for working to the requirements of the company’s Quality Policy and procedure.

3\. To make suggestions as to how the Quality systems can be improved.

Housekeeping

1\. To comply with all Hygiene regulations stipulated within the BRC procedures, trained out at induction.

2\. All tasks that contribute to the cleaning, and maintaining of good, safe standards in all operating areas. This includes the clearing of litter, wrap and debris from aisles, the mopping of small liquid spills, the sweeping of fine debris.

3\. To make every effort to conserve power and minimize waste.

4\. To wear the uniform and safety wear provided, keeping it clean and tidy at all times.

Communication

1\. To communicate accurately and effectively with all members of staff any information required to ensure the performance of your role and company performance, and ensure any issues are raised immediately in order to make sure they are resolved quickly.

Security

1\. To ensure understanding and compliance with the Company’s security procedures including those for IT.

2\. To report any unauthorized personnel seen on the premises, and any incident of damage or theft.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Customer orders produced on time to required specification

  • Zero tolerance to waste, ensures waste is kept to minimum and is clearly separated to prevent cross contamination.

  • Complies with all BRC and quality standards

  • Works in a safe manner at all times

  • Flexibility across machines/roles

  • Accurate and fully completed paperwork

  • Accurate use of company IT system where required
Rate of pay:

£12\.90 per hour

Hours of work/ shift pattern: 12 hr shifts 4 on 4 off rotating days/nights. 7am and 7pm start times.
