Production Manager
Production Manager – Meat \& Butchery Operations
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to oversee the day\-to\-day operation of our busy meat production facility.
This is a hands\-on management role with responsibility for the full production team, including butchers, packers, order pickers, goods\-in and retail employees.
Applicants must have previous management experience within the meat or food\-production industry, together with practical butchery experience. Applications without relevant industry experience will not be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage and support all production employees.
- Plan staffing levels, working hours and production requirements.
- Recruit, train and develop production team members.
- Manage performance, attendance and employee\-related matters.
- Check weekly wages and help ensure fair and consistent pay practices.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, food safety, hygiene and product quality.
- Ensure the site complies with all relevant legal, regulatory and audit requirements.
- Liaise with government bodies, auditors, suppliers and customers when required.
- Oversee factory\-based IT systems.
- Coordinate site maintenance and development.
- Support the livestock and product purchasing process, working with farmers and abattoirs.
- Monitor productivity, expenditure and operational performance, taking corrective action where necessary.
- Work with senior management and the Food Safety Manager on product development.
- Oversee environmental policies, procedures and improvement initiatives.
- Support wider business activities, including marketing, PR and industry award or competition entries.
- Deputise for other senior operational colleagues when required.
To be successful, you will need:
- Management experience within the meat, butchery or closely related food\-production industry.
- Practical butchery experience.
- Proven experience leading a varied production workforce.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, health and safety, hygiene and quality standards.
- Experience of audits, compliance and working with regulatory bodies.
- Good organisational and workforce\-planning skills.
- The ability to coach employees, manage performance and build an effective team.
- Commercial awareness, with experience monitoring costs and improving productivity.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work with employees, suppliers, customers and senior management.
- A practical, hands\-on approach to problem\-solving and continuous improvement.
- A varied role within an established meat\-production business.
