The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and cost\-effective manufacture of high\-quality food ingredients while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality and regulatory standards.
This role requires strong leadership, operational excellence and a continuous improvement mindset to drive productivity, develop teams and support business growth.
- Lead and manage all day\-to\-day production operations to ensure customer demand is met safely, efficiently and on time.
- Develop, motivate and manage production supervisors and operational teams, promoting a positive and accountable working culture.
- Ensure all production documentation, work orders, batch records and production paperwork are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company procedures and traceability requirements.
- Monitor and verify the accurate recording of production data, including work order completion, yields, downtime, quality checks and material usage, ensuring records are audit\-ready and fully compliant.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP, GMP, BRCGS Food Safety Standard and company quality management systems.
- Monitor production performance through KPIs including output, efficiency, downtime and plan conformance.
- Ensure equipment is operated correctly and work closely with Engineering to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, training and succession planning for production staff.
- Lead investigations into production issues, customer complaints, quality deviations and non\-conformances, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Audit readiness for customer, regulatory and third\-party audits.
- Proven experience as a Production Manager within the food manufacturing or food ingredients industry.
- Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes.
- Excellent knowledge of HACCP, GMP, allergen management, food safety and quality systems.
- Experience working within BRCGS\-certified manufacturing environments.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Demonstrable experience managing production KPIs and driving operational improvements.
- Excellent organisational and problem\-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
