Product Owner - Supply Chain and Logistics
Purpose

The Product Owner (Supply Chain \& Logistics) is a key member of the Service Platforms Team at Post Office Ltd (POL), responsible for owning, developing and continuously improving the Supply Chain \& Logistics product portfolio. The role is accountable for ensuring that product investments deliver measurable value to the business while supporting POL's operational and strategic objectives for 2026 and beyond.
The Product Owner will lead day\-to\-day product management activities across the Supply Chain \& Logistics domain, including defining and maintaining the product vision, roadmap and prioritised backlog. Working closely with business stakeholders, operational teams, technology partners and software delivery squads, the role will translate business requirements into clearly defined epics, features and user stories, supported by robust acceptance criteria, success measures and business outcomes.
The role is responsible for ensuring that product development activity is aligned to agreed priorities, balancing new capabilities, operational improvements, technical debt reduction and regulatory or business requirements. Through active ownership of Agile product management practices and ceremonies, the Product Owner will provide clear direction to delivery teams, remove ambiguity, manage dependencies and ensure the successful delivery and adoption of new functionality.
Acting as the primary link between Supply Chain \& Logistics stakeholders and technology delivery teams, the Product Owner will build strong relationships across the organisation, ensuring requirements are understood, priorities are aligned and risks, issues and opportunities are identified and managed proactively. The role will work closely with the Head of Service Platforms and wider transformation teams to support the successful delivery of strategic change initiatives.
The Product Owner will define and manage the Supply Chain \& Logistics roadmap for 2026\-27 and beyond, ensuring that the product portfolio evolves to meet changing business needs while delivering an improved experience for customers, operational users and delivery partners. As a member of the wider Product Management community, the role will champion product best practices, foster a culture of continuous improvement and contribute to the ongoing maturity of product delivery across Post Office.

Principle Accountabilities

Core Accountabilities include:
- Lead the Supply Chain \& Logistics product portfolio, defining and delivering the roadmap to support POL’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Own and prioritise the product backlog, translating business needs into clear epics, features and user stories with measurable outcomes.
- Lead product initiatives from discovery through to deployment, ensuring delivery meets agreed timelines, quality standards and governance requirements.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, operational teams, suppliers and delivery squads to align priorities, manage dependencies and maximise business value.
- Use customer, Postmaster and colleague feedback, alongside data and insights, to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Balance new capability delivery with operational requirements, technical debt reduction, risk management and compliance obligations.
- Monitor product performance, benefits realisation and return on investment (ROI), making evidence\-based decisions to optimise outcomes (product and strategic level).
- Job Specific Accountabilities include:
- Maintain a high\-quality product backlog containing well\-defined Epics, Features and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Partner with business product and process owners to understand requirements, priorities and desired outcomes.
- Act as the voice of the customer within the Supply Chain \& Logistics domain.
- Own and prioritise the product roadmap, balancing short\-term delivery with longer\-term strategic planning.
- Communicate the product vision, roadmap and priorities to stakeholders through regular team events and governance forums.
- Drive product adoption and proactively identify and remove barriers to success.
- Measure and track product value against agreed business objectives.
- Manage and prioritise development activity through tools such as Jira, Confluence and Aha!, ensuring backlog items are refinement\-ready and prioritised.
- Manage technical debt across products and services, ensuring it is addressed alongside roadmap commitments.
- Coach, mentor and develop product management capability across the wider Technology function.
- Ensure Supply Chain \& Logistics roadmaps align with broader business strategy and priorities.
- Translate requirements into clear user stories and epics aligned to strategic initiatives.
- Engage and communicate regularly with business stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Ensure stories are clearly defined, accurately documented and supported by robust acceptance criteria.
- Present product vision, progress, insights and key decisions to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Continuously refine solutions, balancing business requirements with emerging opportunities and delivery considerations.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to development teams throughout implementation.
- Champion user\-centred design, ensuring customer needs and experiences inform product decisions.
- Collaborate closely with third\-party vendors to ensure successful and seamless feature delivery.
- Promote accessibility best practice and champion inclusive product development.
- Work with Product Owners and Associate Product Owners to embed and share best practice in product ownership.

Experience and Qualifications
- Proven ability to design, plan and facilitate effectively workshops both with the Scrum team and other stakeholders.
- Comfortable being hands\-on, and confident in writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Extensive experience of working in an Agile environment with a focus on fast\-paced delivery.
- Significant experience in acting in a product ownership role (3 years\+), with a proven background working with agile development squads.
- Experience of working in Scrum teams using best practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; OR equivalent professional experience.
- Scrum or SAFe or equivalent Product Owner/Manager qualification
- Post Office industry relevant experience highly desirable
- Experience in logistics and or supply chain products and services highly desirable
- Ability to articulate the ‘why’ to delivery teams and make decisions when needed.
- Understanding of a variety of prioritisation approaches and ability to choose the appropriate method.
- Pragmatic approach to supporting delivery with the ability to managing conflicting stakeholder requirements.
- Excellent people management skills and ability to converse effectively at all levels of the business.
- Demonstrates ‘customer first’ thinking and behaviours.
- Significant technology delivery experience

- Ideally an understanding of our existing branch technology
- Strong collaborator and communicator, excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build key relationships and work collaboratively with wider teams including Marketing, Legal, Risk and Compliance
- Understanding of UX/UI and customer testing techniques and analytics and using the results of data and customer insights for evidence\-based product decisions and new features
- Strong commercial business acumen and ability to make data\-driven business decisions.
