Ocean Fresh Birmingham Ltd is a growing Birmingham\-based seafood wholesale and retail company specialising in the sourcing, processing, packaging and distribution of high\-quality fresh seafood. We serve retail customers, restaurants, local businesses and wholesale clients across the region.

Duties

• Oversee receipt and handling of imported fresh fish and seafood.


• Coordinate stock, storage and cold\-chain requirements.


• Monitor product quality, freshness and handling standards.


• Coordinate with suppliers, freight agents, warehouses and delivery teams.


• Support the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the company's HACCP\-based food safety management system.


• Monitor relevant food\-safety controls, temperature records, hygiene procedures and corrective actions.


• Maintain HACCP and food\-safety documentation and records.


• Manage inventory levels and minimise product wastage.


• Plan product allocation against customer orders.


• Supervise relevant warehouse/product\-handling staff.


• Maintain product traceability and operational records.


• Support food\-safety and regulatory compliance.


• Coordinate delivery and distribution schedules.


• Report operational performance and stock issues to directors.

• Strong operational and organisational management skills.


• Previous experience in inventory or product management.


• Strong planning, coordination and problem\-solving abilities.


• Good analytical skills and ability to use operational information to support business decisions.


• Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills.


• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a fast\-paced working environment.


• Good commercial awareness and understanding of operational costs and efficiency.


• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and business management or inventory software.


• Ability to prepare and interpret operational and management information.


• Knowledge of the UK food, seafood or wholesale distribution sector would be desirable.


• Knowledge of food industry standards and regulatory requirements would be desirable.


• Previous experience working with perishable food products would be an advantage.


• Degree or equivalent qualification in business, finance, operations management, supply chain, logistics, food management or a related field.


• Self\-motivated, reliable, organised and able to work independently.


• Ability to support continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.


• Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety management systems.


• Understanding of food\-safety controls, temperature monitoring, traceability and corrective actions.


• HACCP training or relevant food\-safety training would be desirable.
