Private GP – New Private GP Service

The Health Lounge is an established, family\-run multidisciplinary healthcare clinic in Cranleigh, Surrey. Since opening in 2019, we have developed a strong local reputation and currently provide chiropractic care, sports therapy and psychological services, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

We are now developing a new independent private GP service and are looking for an experienced GP to join us at the beginning of the project.

This is an opportunity to help shape a new service from the outset, rather than simply step into an established model.

The role

The service will initially operate one day per week, with scope to increase to two days as demand develops.

Our proposed service will include:

• Face\-to\-face private GP consultations


• Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of primary\-care presentations


• Private prescribing


• Blood testing and pathology


• 12\-lead ECG


• Health screening and preventative healthcare


• NHS and private referrals where appropriate

Alongside clinical work, we would particularly welcome a GP who is interested in contributing to the development of the service.

This may include providing clinical input into areas such as pathology services, prescribing, results management, patient pathways, health screening and clinical governance.

Any agreed service\-development work outside normal clinical sessions will be remunerated.

There may also be scope to take on a more formal clinical leadership role as the service develops, if this is of interest, but this is not a requirement of the initial role.

About you

Applicants should:

• Be GMC registered with a current licence to practise


• Be included on the GMC GP Register


• Have current UK general practice experience


• Be participating appropriately in appraisal and revalidation


• Have appropriate professional indemnity for private practice, or be willing to arrange this


• Have up\-to\-date safeguarding and resuscitation training


• Be confident managing a broad range of general\-practice presentations


• Be comfortable with prescribing, investigations and reviewing results


• Have an interest in delivering high\-quality, patient\-centred care

Previous private\-practice experience is desirable but not essential.

We would particularly welcome applicants with additional interests such as women's health, men's health, preventative medicine, dermatology, minor surgery or other extended GP roles.

About The Health Lounge

The Health Lounge is a friendly, community\-focused healthcare clinic with an established clinical and administrative team.

We have a high level of internal referrals between clinicians and aim to provide high\-quality care in a welcoming and personal environment, with clinicians working collaboratively where appropriate.

We are currently developing a dedicated consultation and examination space for the new GP service, with planned facilities for phlebotomy, ECG and routine primary\-care diagnostics.

The successful GP will be joining the project at an early stage and will have genuine input into how the service develops.

Hours and remuneration

• £95–£105 per hour depending on experience


• Approximately 7 hours per week initially


• Scope to increase to approximately 14 hours per week


• Working day open to discussion


• Existing reception and administrative support
