Apprentice Teaching Assistant (Primary School) – Permanent Role

Start Date: September
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Location: Strood, Kent
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Strood on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in education while gaining hands-on experience.

The role will involve working closely with the SENCO, providing support both in and out of the classroom, with a strong focus on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to the teacher across a range of subjects

  • Work closely with SEN pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assist the SENCO with administrative tasks, including record keeping and tracking progress

  • Support the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans

  • Help create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment

  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional support where needed

The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have some previous Teaching Assistant experience (desirable)

  • Have experience supporting SEN pupils

  • Be organised and comfortable with administrative tasks

  • Be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting individual needs

  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Be eager to learn and develop within an apprenticeship role
