This graduate role offers the opportunity to develop into a multi\-disciplinary power systems engineer through structured training, international project exposure, and hands\-on experience across consultancy, commissioning, field engineering, and maintenance activities.

Responisiblities

The role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of senior engineers across engineering, commissioning, consultancy, and maintenance activities

  • Develop technical knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems associated with substations, HVDC, and FACTS installations

  • Support engineering studies, technical reports, and consultancy activities related to electrical power systems

  • Assist with power system analysis, equipment assessments, and technical evaluations

  • Review technical documentation including drawings, specifications, protection philosophies, and test procedures

  • Support the preparation of commissioning documentation, procedures, and test records

  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), pre\-commissioning, and commissioning activities

  • Assist with testing and troubleshooting of:

  • Protection schemes and relays

  • Control and automation systems

  • SCADA and communication systems

  • HV and LV switchgear

  • Transformers and associated substation equipment

  • Support field engineering activities including site inspections, surveys, interface checks, and technical assessments

  • Assist with maintenance activities, fault investigations, root cause analysis, and equipment condition assessments

  • Participate in project meetings, commissioning planning activities, and technical coordination with clients, contractors, and OEMs

  • Analyse technical data, test results, alarms, and system performance information

  • Support preparation of engineering calculations, reports, and technical deliverables

  • Update and maintain technical documentation and as\-built records

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders

  • Support the wider IMES engineering and commissioning teams across international projects
Training and Development

IMES is committed to developing graduate engineers into well\-rounded power systems specialists.

The programme looks to include development in:

  • AC Substations

  • HVDC systems

  • FACTS systems

  • Protection \& Control engineering

  • Commissioning engineering

  • Field engineering

  • Maintenance engineering

  • Power system consultancy

  • Technical reporting and analysis
Training will include:
  • Office\-based engineering development

  • Hands\-on site experience

  • Mentoring by experienced IMES engineers

  • Manufacturer and equipment training

  • Exposure to international projects

  • Practical commissioning and testing activities
Initial HVDC and power systems training may be conducted at IMES facilities in Paris, France and other project locations worldwide.

Pay: £38,000\.00\-£50,000\.00 per year
