Plumber / Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plumber / Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our expanding team supporting Ministry of Defence (MOD) sites across the region. Job Overview
You will be responsible for the planned maintenance, servicing, repair, fault finding and installation of a wide range of mechanical building services across MOD sites. Working as part of a dedicated site team, you will help ensure the safe and efficient operation of critical mechanical assets while maintaining the highest standards of compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on mechanical building services.
- Respond to reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and breakdowns.
- Service and maintain Air Handling Units (AHUs), including filter changes, belt replacements, basic fan maintenance and associated mechanical inspections.
- Carry out repairs and remedial works on mechanical plant and plumbing systems.
- Undertake installation and modification of mechanical pipework and associated equipment.
- Complete small plumbing projects, including repairs, alterations and installations.
- Maintain and service heating, domestic water and mechanical plant systems.
- Support small mechanical improvement projects and system upgrades.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation and ensure statutory compliance.
- Work collaboratively with the wider site team whilst maintaining high standards of health, safety and workmanship.

- Commercial plumbing installations (primarily accommodation blocks)
- Mechanical pipework (steel, copper and plastic)
- Pumps, valves, expansion vessels and pressurisation units
- Plant room equipment and associated mechanical systems
- HVAC mechanical equipment
- General mechanical building services
We are looking for a reliable and competent Mechanical Building Services Engineer with experience within commercial, industrial or facilities management environments.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience within mechanical building services and/or commercial plumbing.
- Experience servicing and maintaining Air Handling Units (AHUs) and associated HVAC equipment.
- Strong fault\-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience maintaining mechanical plant and building services systems.
- Ability to install, maintain and repair mechanical pipework and equipment.
- Experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent understanding of Health \& Safety and safe systems of work.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Gas qualifications or commercial gas experience.
- Experience working within MOD, healthcare or other secure environments.
- Experience with HVAC mechanical systems.

Pay: £30,000\.00\-£34,000\.00 per year
