This is an exciting time to join the City of London’s Planning Policy team. The City Corporation is about to adopt its new City Plan 2040, setting a new policy framework for the future growth of the Square Mile. The team is also looking ahead to the opportunities created by the new 30\-month plan\-making process and is working with Government on Digital Local Plans, making this a particularly dynamic moment for planning policy under digital transformation.

This is a newly graded position within the team, working alongside and supporting four planning officers under the guidance of the Head of Planning Policy. You will help to develop high\-quality planning policy, guidance and evidence, supporting work on evidence gathering, data analysis, consultation responses, committee reports and planning policy research. You will also work closely with planning officers, the Digital Planning Team and colleagues across the City Corporation to support inclusive engagement and a sustainable outcomes approach to monitoring.

The role will suit someone with some existing relevant experience, who is motivated, detail\-oriented, collaborative and proactive, with strong written communication skills. You should have a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline. We are looking for someone with an understanding of plan\-making procedures, sustainability appraisal or Integrated Impact Assessment, the statutory planning system, the London planning context and national policy, as well as confidence in working with data and an interest in how digital tools can support better planning policy\-making processes and outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to develop their policy skills at the heart of the City.

Closing date \- 28 September 2026

Provisional Interview date \- 13 October 2026
