About the role
We are looking to recruit a Qualified Phlebotomist to join our friendly, patient\-focused team at Gants Hill Medical Centre. You will provide a high\-quality venepuncture service, supporting clinicians and contributing to safe, effective patient care.
You will be confident in taking blood samples from a wide range of patients, including those who may be anxious, elderly, or have difficult venous access, while maintaining excellent infection prevention and control standards.
Key responsibilities
· Perform venepuncture in line with local and national guidance and maintain accurate sample labelling.
· Ensure correct completion of pathology request forms (electronic and/or paper as required).
· Prepare, store, and transport specimens safely in line with laboratory requirements.
· Maintain accurate records on clinical system EMIS Web, as appropriate.
· Support patient flow, including calling patients, verifying identity, and providing reassurance/advice post\-procedure.
· Maintain stock levels and complete equipment checks for phlebotomy room and consumables.
· Follow infection prevention and control, health and safety, safeguarding, and information governance procedures at all times.
· Contribute to audits, quality improvement, and incident reporting where required.
Person specification – *Essential \- MUST HAVE*
- *Phlebotomy qualification (or accredited training) and competent in venepuncture.*
- *Hep B Vaccinations complete and Hep B Antibody Blood Test showing Immunity.*
- *Right to work in the UK*
· Understanding of specimen handling, labelling, and pathology requirements.
· Excellent communication and patient\-care skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
