Personal Assistant to a young Person with Cerebral palsy
Position is within a busy family home, supporting L who is 19 years of age with his daily care needs. He attends collage Monday\- Friday so driving him to and from each day. Working will mainly be 2:1 with another personal assistant, at times there will be sole charge care due to annual leave, staff sickness etc.
L requires full support with his physical needs. He is a wheelchair user, he currently has a powered wheelchair, which he drives himself. L is non\-verbal, he communicates in a variety of ways, but very effectively via an AAC device. L is a fun, active and bright young man with a great sense of humour.
L is an adrenaline junkie, one of his favourite activities is skiing. He is very sociable and enjoys being around people, going on trains and the underground, listening to music, going to the theatre and movies etc. He also enjoys everything about food, preparing it and eating it! L is a very family orientated, he enjoys hanging out with his brothers and having quality time with his parents. He enjoys hosting family and friends at his house, and any excuse to go to the pub or out to eat, L will be there!

We are looking for someone who is respectful of a busy family home, is kind, thoughtful and has a desire to help a young man reach his full potential, maximise his opportunities and experiences and have fun while doing so. Being able to work within a multi\-disciplinary team is also must, as well as school staff and therapists, L has private therapists that attend sessions at home weekly. Effective communication is key.
L lives remotely so a being able to drive is essential. Ls household is non\-smoking.
We work on a two\-week rolling rota and are looking for 18 hours a week in total. Week one would be Monday 1500\-2130 followed by a sleep in night then Tuesday morning 0700\-1100\. Week two Monday 1500\-2130 and Saturday 0900\-2130\. Days can be changed slightly and discussed upon interview.
These hours will change within the holidays when care needs are upped to 24hour care and is covered by the PA team. Flexibility to cover sickness and annual leave, support through more hours in the holidays and the flexibility to travel on family holidays to support L is essential.
Good rates of pay; £17\.85ph weekday and £19\.95ph weekend day. Weekday nights £11\.55ph Weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) £12\.60ph.
Pay: £11\.55\-£19\.95 per hour
