Personal Assistant / Carer – Immediate Start – Lee Green, SE12

£18\.34 per hour \| 30 hours per week \| PAYE

An experienced and reliable Personal Assistant/Carer is required for an immediate start to support a man with a C4 spinal cord injury in his own home near Lee Green.

This position combines personal care with regular domestic work. Cleaning, ironing and general household duties are essential parts of the job.

Working hours

• Monday to Friday


• 8:30am–2:30pm


• Additional holiday and sickness cover may be available


• Three weeks of live\-in care over Christmas and New Year


• Occasional shorter live\-in stays throughout the year

Main responsibilities

• Transfers using an overhead hoist


• Showering, dressing and grooming


• Bowel care, including suppositories and manual evacuation


• Support with non\-invasive ventilation (NIV)


• Meal preparation


• Cleaning the kitchen, bathroom and other household areas


• Vacuuming, dusting and washing floors


• Laundry, ironing and changing bed linen


• Washing up and general household organisation


• Supporting the individual to remain independent

Essential requirements

• Practical care experience


• Experience using a hoist and safe manual\-handling techniques


• Comfortable providing intimate personal and bowel care


• Willing to undertake cleaning, ironing and general housework


• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently


• Available to start immediately or at very short notice


• Willing and able to provide live\-in care


• Available for three weeks of live\-in care over Christmas and New Year


• Available for occasional shorter live\-in stays throughout the year


• Legal right to work in the UK


• Must live close to Lee Green, SE12, or within a nearby area with a short and reliable journey to work

Training provided

Full training and guidance will be provided for:

• Non\-invasive ventilation (NIV)


• Bowel care and manual evacuation


• Using the overhead hoist


• The individual’s personal\-care routine

Applicants should already have practical care experience and a basic understanding of hoisting and safe manual handling.

Pay and benefits

• £18\.34 per hour through PAYE


• Live\-in care paid at £228 per 24\-hour shift


• Paid holiday on a pro\-rata basis
