Partnership Administrator - Involvement & Coproduction
Are you a skilled administrator with interest and knowledge in the housing and homelessness system? Are you passionate about improving the lived experience of people using services, aspiring to promote positive change in the systems all around us? If so, taking your next career step working at Second Step could be the right move for you.
Second Step is a leading mental health charity that’s been putting mental health first for people in the South West for over 30 years. We believe that with the right support, everyone can take control of their life and make their future their own. We work with people who experience complex needs associated with multiple and severe disadvantage (including psychological distress, homelessness, substance misuse and contact with the criminal justice system).
Step Together is a trailblazing service that offers a psychological, adversity and trauma (PAT) informed approach to those rough sleeping/at risk of homelessness with multiple, complex needs (mental health, forensic history, substance use) in Somerset. We advocate for system change, creatively thinking with other agencies to develop innovative ways to overcome barriers to engagement, turning these into opportunities to steer positive trauma\-informed system change.
Second Step is actively committed to the coproduction of services and is on a journey to making this a reality. In addition to employing people with lived experience of mental health issues, we have a strong record of involving the people we support in the design, review and improvement of our services. We are also committed to establishing a strong carers’ voice within the organisation.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Partnership Administrator supporting our Involvement \& Coproduction Coordinator on projects which embed the voice of lived/living experience into the housing and homelessness system across Somerset. Based in the Step Together team, the Administrator will support all aspects of engagement work to build a Shaping, Teaching and Responding (STAR) Team for Somerset – a network of experts by experience. Importantly, it will also provide administration support to the engagement of lived experience voices for Somerset’s Supported Housing Strategy and other strategic work, including logistics, reports, and timely and professional contact with partners, service providers and service users.
We are looking for an organised and creative individual with passion and experience in coproduction and centring the voices of individuals whose voices have been excluded from society. Your work will support their voices being heard, valued, and acted upon, helping to shape support that’s inclusive, informed, and impactful. A strong understanding of the needs of adults who face homelessness and have complex needs, including mental health, is required. You must be an excellent communicator, have exceptional administration skills and the ability to work alongside people with a range of skills and needs. A knowledge of the Somerset system is an advantage, and the ability and willingness to travel around the county is essential as our service, and the work of developing a STAR group, covers the whole of Somerset.
The role will be supported by and integrated into Second Step’s central Involvement \& Coproduction team. You will receive training, ongoing supervision and support, and benefit from the organisation’s commitment to trauma\-informed practice. In addition to this you will be joining a strong team who are passionate about the values of Second Step and who have built a service that is innovative, responsive and dynamic.
If you're a natural connector with a passion for real community change, this is your chance to support transformation from the inside out.
We strongly encourage applications from people who have experience of homelessness and/or living with mental health challenges, and using homelessness or mental health services.
If you would like a chat about the role prior to applying, please contact Michael Payne, Team Manager (michael.payne@second\-step.co.uk) or Lucy Grist, Involvement \& Coproduction Coordinator (lucy.grist@second\-step.co.uk).
