Part\-Time Finance Manager

Location: Woodside Place, Glasgow \- office based
Salary: £14–£16 per hour, depending on experience
Job type: Part\-time, fixed\-term contract
Contract length: Initial 3 months, with possibility of extension
Hours: 12–15 hours per week
Start date: As soon as possible

About the role

We are looking for a practical, organised and hands\-on Part\-Time Finance Manager to support the day\-to\-day finance function across a small group of growing businesses.

The role will initially support Strategem and Welgo, with a further IT firm expected to be added shortly. This is an initial three\-month fixed\-term contract, with the possibility of extension as the role and businesses develop.

This is a hands\-on finance role, covering bookkeeping, invoicing, credit control, reconciliations and intercompany charging. It would suit someone who is confident using Xero, enjoys keeping finances organised, and is comfortable working across more than one company.

The role may suit an experienced bookkeeper looking for broader responsibility, someone developing their finance career, or an experienced finance professional looking for a flexible part\-time role.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing day\-to\-day finance processes in Xero

  • Raising and issuing sales invoices

  • Processing purchase invoices

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Preparing supplier payments for approval

  • Credit control and debtor chasing

  • Maintaining accurate customer and supplier records

  • Managing intercompany / interco charging between group companies

  • Supporting weekly cashflow visibility

  • Preparing simple finance updates for management

  • Supporting month\-end checks and reconciliations

  • Keeping finance files, receipts and supporting documents organised

  • Liaising with external accountants and payroll providers where required (or running payroll inhouse where experience aligns)

  • Flagging overdue debt, missing paperwork, payment issues or unusual transactions early
About you

You will be organised, accurate and confident working with financial information. You do not need to be a qualified accountant, but you must have hands\-on finance, bookkeeping or accounts experience and be confident using Xero.

You should be comfortable working independently, keeping on top of recurring finance tasks and communicating clearly with management.

Essential requirements

  • Confident user of Xero

  • Previous bookkeeping, finance or accounts experience

  • Experience raising invoices and reconciling bank accounts

  • Comfortable with credit control and debtor follow\-up

  • Good attention to detail

  • Able to work across multiple businesses or entities

  • Comfortable using Excel or spreadsheets

  • Reliable, discreet and well\-organised

  • Understanding of VAT processes

  • Able to work flexibly around month\-end deadlines
Desirable but not essential
  • Experience with intercompany charging

  • Experience supporting small businesses or group companies

  • Experience liaising with external accountants

  • Payroll Experienced

  • Experience in consultancy, IT, professional services or project\-based businesses
