Job Summary
---------------

The PALS Team are seeking a motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to supporting patients, relatives, and carers who have raised concerns about care and treatment provided by the Trust.

The post holder will play a key role in the coordination and management of PALS cases in line with Trust policy and relevant regional and national regulations. They will also support the PALS Service Co\-ordinator and Manager in delivering a long\-term action plan, ensuring a consistent and effective approach to addressing concerns, enquiries, compliments and supporting clinical teams to achieve timely resolutions.

The successful candidate will be sensitive, tactful, and resilient, with experience of engaging with patients, carers, and stakeholders in potentially challenging situations. They will manage their own caseload of PALS cases with responsibilities including handling telephone and email enquiries, drafting correspondence, liaising with complainants, maintaining records on Datix, and communicating with senior Trust staff, MPs, advocacy services, and external NHS organisations.

We are recruiting for one permanent position and an additional 2 year fixed term post.

The PALS team sits within the wider Patient Experience Team and is part of the Chief Nurse Clinical Specialty Unit. This services is fast paced and challenging, but rewarding, working within a supportive team, focused on improving the experiences of people visiting our Trust.

The team consists of a PALS Manager, Service Co\-ordinator and 4 pals Officers and report direct to a Lead nurse and Head of Patient Experience.

What you will bring to the role

As a PALS Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring that patients, carers, and relatives are listened to, supported and provided with clear and timely responses to their concerns. You will help support service improvement through your work and contributions supporting projects.

Experience of managing and resolving concerns

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to process and understand information quickly

Experience of undertaking confidential work

Experience of remaining calm under pressure and confident managing competing priorities and deadlines
