Packaging and Inventory Planner
About the role
Graham's the Family Dairy is a leading Scottish food and drink brand, producing award\-winning milk, butter, cream, ice cream, yoghurt, skyr and more.
We are looking for an organised, numerically confident and proactive packaging and inventory planner to take ownership of raw material and packaging stock at our Glenfield site. You will combine accurate stock control with practical problem\-solving, ensuring materials are available when needed while identifying variances, waste and opportunities to improve efficiency.
Working closely with Production, Planning, Site Management and suppliers, you will play an important part in maintaining supply continuity and supporting the smooth day\-to\-day running of the site.
What you will be responsible for
· Manage and control raw material and packaging inventories, maintaining accurate and reliable stock records.
· Use Excel to complete daily, weekly and monthly stock analysis, reconcile material usage and waste, and investigate exceptions.
· Complete monthly stock counts, analyse variances and work with operational teams to resolve root causes.
· Create clear reports that highlight stock movements, usage trends, shortages, excess stock and areas requiring action.
· Work with Site Management and Planning to ensure packaging and materials are available to meet production requirements.
· Raise purchase orders, maintain accurate purchasing records and validate supplier invoices against orders and deliveries.
· Place orders in a timely manner and liaise with suppliers to manage deliveries, shipping schedules, imports and urgent requirements.
· Develop and maintain effective stock control processes, supporting stronger accuracy, efficiency and cost control.
· Oversee the materials warehouse, ensuring stock is stored accurately and the area remains clean, organised and safe.
· Coordinate internal material transfers and support Production with trials of new materials.
· Arrange the collection and disposal of waste materials, including bales and skips.
· Support the General Manager with other activities required for the efficient operation of the site.
· Comply with all Company Health \& Safety policies, procedures and HR standards.
Essential Skills
Good Excel skills are essential for this role. You must be comfortable using Excel independently to analyse stock information, reconcile data and produce accurate reports. This is a practical, everyday requirement rather than an occasional part of the role.
· Confident use of PivotTables to summarise and analyse stock data.
· Good working knowledge of lookup functions, such as XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP.
· Ability to use formulas including SUMIFS, COUNTIFS and IF statements.
· Experience sorting, filtering, cleansing and checking large data sets for accuracy.
· Ability to compare system information, identify discrepancies and investigate unusual movements or trends.
· Confidence presenting findings clearly to operational and management teams.
Experience and attributes
· Previous experience in stock control, materials planning, inventory management or a similar role.
· Experience within manufacturing, production or FMCG would be advantageous.
· Strong numerical ability, attention to detail and a disciplined approach to accuracy.
· Effective organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities.
· A proactive problem\-solver who follows issues through to resolution.
· Clear communication skills and the confidence to build effective relationships across departments and with suppliers.
· A collaborative, team\-focused approach and a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
