Optical Receptionist / Optical Assistant – Eyesite Opticians

We’re one of the longest\-established opticians in the area, with roots in Cheetham Hill since 1989\. For over 35 years we’ve been providing hospital\-grade clinical eye care right here in the community.

We pride ourselves on offering personalised care, a welcoming atmosphere, and high‑quality optical services. We are now looking for a friendly, organised and enthusiastic Optical Receptionist / Optical Assistant to join our close‑knit team.

This role is ideal for someone with strong healthcare reception experience or existing optical experience. For those joining at receptionist level, there is an option to progress into an Optical Assistant role if suitable, with full support and training provided.

Experienced Optical Assistants will attract a higher starting salary and the opportunity to work in a more patient‑centred, relationship‑focused environment.

About the Role

You will be the welcoming face of the practice and play a key part in ensuring patients receive an excellent experience. Responsibilities include:

Greeting patients and providing a warm, professional first point of contact

Managing reception duties including booking appointments, answering calls, and handling enquiries

Supporting the optometrist and wider team with day‑to‑day practice tasks

Using practice management software and maintaining accurate patient records

Helping to keep the practice tidy, organised, and welcoming

For those with optical experience, responsibilities may also include:

Supporting clinical procedures

Providing a high standard of patient care

What Makes This a Great Place to Work

As a family‑run independent practice, we offer a working environment that many people find refreshing and rewarding. Here, you’ll enjoy:

A calmer, more patient‑focused approach

You’ll have the time and space to look after people properly, without the pressure of constant targets.

Real relationships with patients

You’ll get to know the community, see familiar faces, and build trust with patients who genuinely appreciate your care.

Variety in your day

You won’t be limited to one task — you’ll gain experience across reception, dispensing, and patient support.

A supportive, family‑feel team

You’ll be part of a small, friendly team where your contribution is noticed and valued.

These qualities make the role especially appealing to people who want a more meaningful, balanced, and enjoyable working life.
