McBreen Enviro UK, part of the McBreen Group, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take full responsibility for the day\-to\-day operational performance of its UK depots across Warrington \& Chesterfield.

This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, team performance, customer satisfaction, compliance, and business growth.

The role will also work closely with our Worcester depot to drive consistency, communication, and operational excellence across the business. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility may occasionally be required outside standard working hours to support operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily operations across the Warrington and Chesterfield depots.

  • Manage operational crews, vehicles, and resources to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery.

  • Drive improvements in productivity, planning, scheduling, and vehicle utilisation.

  • Resolve operational issues and ensure business continuity.

  • Support cost control initiatives across labour, fleet, and operational resources.

  • Build strong communication channels between depots and operational teams.

  • Manage customer escalations and service issues professionally and effectively.
Leadership \& Team Development
  • Lead, motivate, and support operational crews and depot teams.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and development of operational staff.

  • Drive cross\-training and upskilling initiatives.

  • Maintain high behavioural, safety, and operational standards across all teams.
Vehicle \& Fleet Management
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, compliance, and operational readiness.

  • Work collaboratively with other depots to coordinate fleet planning and vehicle allocation.

  • Ensure all vehicles are serviced, compliant, and operating efficiently.

  • Monitor and enforce daily vehicle checks and fleet standards.
Commercial \& Customer Support
  • Support Sales and Business Development teams in achieving growth targets.

  • Identify opportunities for additional work and service expansion through customer engagement.

  • Promote excellent customer service and operational delivery.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, operational stakeholders, and internal teams.
Compliance, Reporting \& Performance
  • Ensure compliance with Health \& Safety, environmental, and operational standards.

  • Promote a strong safety culture across all operational activities.

  • Ensure toolbox talks, vehicle inspections, and operational procedures are completed consistently.

  • Support incident investigations and corrective actions.

  • Maintain compliance with industry accreditations including Achilles, FORS, ISO standards, and customer\-specific requirements.

  • Support audits, inspections, and operational reviews.

  • Monitor and report on operational KPIs, productivity, fleet utilisation, and performance metrics.
Requirements Essential
  • Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Depot Manager, Transport Manager, or similar operational leadership role.

  • Strong people management and leadership skills.

  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem\-solving abilities.

  • Experience managing operational teams, fleet resources, and service delivery.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Commercial awareness with a customer\-focused approach.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Strong understanding of Health \& Safety and operational compliance requirements.
Desirable
  • Valid Operator’s Licence (O\-Licence) holder or demonstrable experience managing and maintaining compliance under an Operator’s Licence.

  • Transport Manager CPC qualification or willingness to obtain with company support.

  • Experience working within utilities, infrastructure, drainage, environmental, construction, or related operational sectors.

  • Experience with FORS, ISO, Achilles, and industry accreditation standards.

  • Knowledge of fleet management and transport compliance.
