Shift pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off
Hours: 06:00–18:00
Location: Reporting to our Edinburgh office

About us

Established over 25 years ago, Timberbush Tours is an Edinburgh\-based, family owned business. Operating out of Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness, our 5\-star, award\-winning tours depart daily, offering a variety of 1, 2, and 3\-day excursions across Scotland and Northern England. We also have a growing Private and Corporate Hire Department, catering to bespoke travel needs.

Timberbush operates a modern fleet of 60 vehicles ranging in all sizes.

We pride ourselves on the quality and presentation of our fleet, where safety and reliability play a vital part in making sure we can provide the highest levels of service to our customers.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to help lead the day\-to\-day delivery of our tour operation. This is a hands\-on leadership role combining operational planning, team management, customer service, resource coordination, incident response and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will provide direct leadership to operational supervisors and team members while working closely with transport, workshop, reservations, customer service and senior management across our wider operation. You will help ensure our tours, people, vehicles and systems operate safely, efficiently and consistently to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

· Lead the day to day operation across multiple departments, ensuring tours depart safely, on time and fully prepared.

· Coordinate operational resources, staffing and coverage to meet business needs, particularly during peak periods.

· Provide direct line management for operational teams and supervisors, including one to ones, performance reviews, attendance, conduct and development.

· Support recruitment, onboarding, retention and succession planning, helping to develop future leaders within the business.

· Monitor customer service standards, investigate complaints and use passenger feedback to drive improvements.

· Work closely with transport and workshop teams to maximise fleet availability and respond effectively to breakdowns, incidents and operational pressures.

· Monitor rotas, resource utilisation, operational KPIs and performance metrics.

· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, employee engagement and service delivery.

· Review operational procedures and lead improvement projects across the business.

· Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure company procedures are followed consistently.

· Support incident investigations, compliance monitoring, corrective actions and business continuity planning.

· Maintain effective communication across departments and provide clear operational updates to senior management.

Essential skills and experience

· Previous management experience within tourism, transport, logistics, travel, hospitality or another fast\-paced operational environment.

· Proven experience leading teams, managing performance and developing people.

· Strong organisational, planning and problem\-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

· Excellent communication and people\-management skills.

· A calm, practical and hands\-on approach to incidents and changing operational demands.

· The ability to balance service quality, operational efficiency, staff development and team morale.

· A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between operational locations as required.

Desirable skills and experience

· Experience using scheduling or operational planning systems.

· Knowledge of transport operations and compliance, budget and KPI management, or continuous improvement.
