Scaffolding Operations Manager – Build \& Grow a New Division

Company Overview

SSS Scaffolding is the scaffolding division of Specialised Group, whose roofing arm SSR Roofing is a leading provider of roofing and building maintenance to social housing providers, housing associations and local authorities across the UK. We’re building SSS Scaffolding into a standalone operation — delivering scaffold works for SSR Roofing’s contracts and, increasingly, for external clients. This is a genuine ground\-floor opportunity to shape and grow a division from the front, backed by an established, growing group.

Summary

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Scaffolding Operations Manager to take the lead in building SSS Scaffolding up. You’ll own the operational side from day one — fleet, plant, operatives and quality — delivering for SSR Roofing’s contracts while winning and servicing external work alongside it.

This is for someone who’s worked in and around the building trade and wants more than a management job: someone energetic, commercially minded and committed to building a brand and growing a business. The wider group provides back\-office support, so you can focus on delivery, standards and growth. For the right person there’s a clear progression path to a director\-level role over the coming years as the division scales.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Running the day\-to\-day scaffolding operation across social housing and external contracts


• Managing the fleet, plant and equipment — utilisation, maintenance, compliance and cost


• Recruiting, managing and developing operatives and scaffold teams


• Owning quality and standards on every job, to TG20/TG30 and industry best practice


• Delivering scaffold works for SSR Roofing’s contracts to programme and to SLA


• Winning and servicing external clients as the division grows


• Driving health \& safety leadership across all sites


• Building the systems, processes and culture of a growing division


• Working with the wider group’s back\-office support on admin, finance and planning


• Spotting opportunities to grow the business and acting on them

• Experience working in and around the building trade — ideally within social housing, housing associations or local authority contracts


• Entrepreneurial and energetic, with a genuine appetite to build and grow a business


• Proven ability to manage operatives, fleet, plant and quality


• Strong health \& safety awareness (CISRS, TG20/TG30 and site compliance)


• Commercially aware — understands utilisation, cost and margin


• A self\-starter who leads from the front and doesn’t wait to be told


• Committed to building a brand and staying for the journey

• A scaffolding or roofing background


• CISRS or scaffolding management qualifications


• SMSTS/SSSTS or equivalent site management tickets


• Experience setting up or scaling a scaffolding operation


• A network of scaffolding operatives or subcontractors you can draw on

• A genuine ground\-floor role building a division as your own


• A clear progression path to director level as the business grows


• The backing, contracts and support of an established, growing group

Job Type: Full\-time

Pay: £45,000\.00 – £57,000\.00 per year (including performance bonus)
