We are now looking for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to take ownership of the day\-to\-day running of the business, help grow our customer base, improve operational efficiency, and bring fresh ideas to support the next stage of growth.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the business, managing the rental fleet, supporting staff, maintaining excellent customer service standards, and driving business development opportunities.
This is a hands\-on leadership role suited to someone with strong experience in the car and van rental industry who understands both operational management and commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities Operations \& Fleet Management
- Oversee the day\-to\-day running of the vehicle rental operation
- Manage vehicle availability, utilisation, scheduling, and fleet efficiency
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained, serviced, cleaned, roadworthy, and compliant
- Coordinate repairs, MOTs, servicing, and supplier relationships
- Monitor fleet performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability
- Deliver and maintain high standards of customer service
- Handle escalated customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally
- Build long\-term relationships with local businesses and account customers
- Ensure smooth vehicle handovers, returns, and rental processes
- Lead and support operational staff
- Improve processes and encourage accountability across the business
- Assist with recruitment, training, and performance management where required
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Develop relationships with local businesses, trade customers, and corporate accounts
- Introduce new ideas, systems, and operational improvements
- Support marketing initiatives and growth strategies
- Monitor operational costs and support profitability targets
- Ensure compliance with all transport, insurance, health \& safety, and rental regulations
- Assist with reporting, KPIs, and operational planning
- Proven experience within the car and van rental sector
- Strong operational management experience
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Commercially minded with the ability to grow business opportunities
- Strong customer service and relationship\-building abilities
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the operation
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience managing rental fleet software and systems
- Knowledge of fleet compliance and transport regulations
- Experience developing B2B and account\-based business
- Understanding of vehicle logistics and utilisation planning
