We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Operations Manager to provide operational leadership across Oncology, Haematology and Rheumatology, working across both George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH) and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT).

This is a genuinely cross\-organisational role, with the postholder's time split between GEH and SWFT. You will be expected to have a visible presence across both organisations, working closely with clinical, nursing and operational colleagues to support the day\-to\-day delivery and continued development of these services.

This is a cross\-organisational role and the postholder's working time will be split between George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. The ability to travel independently between the two organisations and their associated sites is therefore an essential requirement of the role.

Reporting to the General Manager and/or Directorate Manager, you will be responsible for the day\-to\-day operational management of Oncology, Haematology and Rheumatology, ensuring services are safe, effective and responsive to the needs of our patients.

The role requires someone who enjoys being close to operational delivery. You will provide visible leadership across your services and act as a key point of escalation where there are pressures or deviations against performance, quality or financial plans.

You will work alongside clinical and nursing leaders and Service Managers to understand performance, identify pressures and ensure that appropriate actions and mitigations are in place.

Alongside the day\-to\-day operational responsibilities, we want the successful candidate to have a real interest in service improvement and transformation.

You will support and lead service redesign within your portfolio, working with multidisciplinary teams to implement changes that respond to national and local priorities and improve patient care.

The successful candidate will also join the On Call Manager Rota for the George Eliot Hospital Site.

Working across two organisations provides an opportunity to look at how services currently operate at GEH and SWFT, understand where there are differences and identify where greater collaboration, standardisation or sharing of good practice could improve patient care, experience and operational resilience.

We are looking for someone who can combine strong operational management with a positive and collaborative leadership style.

You will need to be comfortable working across different teams and sites, developing relationships with a wide range of clinical and non\-clinical colleagues and maintaining a clear focus on delivery.

The successful candidate will have:

Proven experience of managing and improving healthcare services, including experience of managing teams across multiple sites.

Strong operational and performance management skills, with the ability to use data to understand issues and drive improvement.

Experience of financial and budget management and an understanding of how operational decisions affect the financial sustainability of services.

The ability to develop strong working relationships with clinical, nursing and operational colleagues.

Experience of managing change and delivering service improvement.

Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions and escalate issues appropriately.

The ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment

Leadership, quality and improvement

You will provide leadership and direction to the teams within your portfolio, supporting workforce planning and ensuring that our people and resources are used effectively.

You will work closely with clinical teams on workforce and consultant job planning and help create an environment where staff are engaged in how their services are managed and developed. A commitment to equality, inclusion and staff engagement will be an important part of how you lead.

Quality and patient safety will be central to the role. You will support robust governance arrangements across your services, monitor risks and health and safety, manage complaints and learning, and use local and national benchmarking to identify opportunities for improvement.

You will also have responsibility for operational management of budgets within your portfolio and will contribute to productivity, income opportunities, business planning and cost improvement programmes.
