The Opportunity
Our client is an established facilities management business delivering cleaning, grounds maintenance and bulk clearance services across London and the South of England.
Working with housing associations and local authorities, the business is known for reliable delivery, professional standards and long\-term client relationships.
Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead multiple contracts and teams across North London, strengthen client relationships and maintain consistently high service standards.
The Role
Reporting to the senior management team, you will lead a portfolio of cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts.
You will manage 5–6 Contracts Managers, enabling them and their teams to deliver safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and client standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support Contracts Managers and regional teams delivering cleaning and grounds maintenance services.
- Own contract performance across North London, ensuring services meet contractual standards and client expectations.
- Build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders, acting as the senior operational point of contact.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, development, workforce planning and resource allocation.
- Monitor performance, budgets and costs, taking prompt action where improvement is needed.
- Maintain robust health and safety standards and operational compliance across all contracts.
- Drive improvements in service quality, operational efficiency and team performance.
You will be an experienced operational leader from facilities management, cleaning, grounds maintenance or a related sector, comfortable managing multiple contracts, teams and priorities while maintaining customer service, compliance and commercial performance.
You will bring:
- 5\+ years' experience in senior management or operational leadership within FM, cleaning or grounds maintenance.
- Proven experience managing multiple contracts, teams and operational priorities.
- Strong people leadership, organisation and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills, with confidence engaging directly with clients.
- The judgement and initiative to work independently, make sound decisions and own outcomes.
- A full UK driving licence and, ideally, residence in or near North London.
- Experience with Housing Associations and BICS or BALI certification would be advantageous.
