Operations Manager (Full-time)
About This Role
We are a fast\-growing dental laboratory and e\-commerce brand, selling across the UK and the United States, and we are looking for someone who wants to become a genuine part of what we are building. Not someone who clocks in at 9 and clocks out at 5 and does not think about the business again until the next morning. We want someone who cares. Someone who takes real ownership. Someone who sees this as more than a job.
You will take full responsibility for the entire UK operation. Everything that relates to this company becomes yours to manage. There is no such thing as out of scope. If it lands on your plate, you deal with it, efficiently and effectively, no matter how big or small.
If an important call or email comes in outside of working hours, you respond. That is the mindset this role requires, and it is the mindset we will reward.
The Company
We are a direct\-to\-consumer dental laboratory and e\-commerce brand with a growing customer base across the whole of the UK and the United States. We operate across two UK sites, a warehouse and a laboratory, and we sell entirely online as well as serving walk\-in customers locally.
- 20 UK staff currently, growing to 25 within the next 6 months
- An overseas branch of 11 staff, growing to 30 within the next 6 months
- Multiple brands under one group
The Role
You will be on the floor every single day. This is not a desk job. You will walk the lab and warehouse, watch how things are running, spot problems early, and fix them. Your presence matters.
Your responsibilities cover the full operation: managing and monitoring the team, keeping morale high, stepping in when needed, reviewing reports and acting on them, maintaining all documentation and compliance, overseeing hiring and training, and making sure health and safety standards are always met. If it affects the business, it is your responsibility.
What the First Few Months Look Like
Before you can manage the operation, you need to understand it completely. Your first priority will be learning the business inside out.
- Spend real time with every person in the team and understand their strengths and weak points
- Learn every task hands\-on. If someone does it, you learn to do it too
- Time yourself and the team on key tasks to understand what efficient output actually looks like
- Learn every system and software we use
- Understand the full production and manufacturing process from start to finish
- Someone who sees a problem and fixes it without waiting to be asked
- Someone calm under pressure who communicates clearly at all levels
- Someone who earns respect by being present, consistent, and reliable
- Someone who wants to build something, not just manage something
