Operations Manager
Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident and reliable person to oversee our narrowboat hire business and marina, ensuring operational efficiency across our small but very busy family business. The job role is very varied and the successful applicant will be responsible for providing first class, hospitable and a safe holiday experience for guests renting our fleet of luxury narrowboats. This multi\-skilled role balances practical hands\-on mechanical checks and boat turnarounds with direct customer instruction and safety handovers. Additional responsibilites include the up keep of the marina grounds and CL site and winter maintenence work on the boats.
Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive boat handovers, explaining the internal mechanics, onboard systems and safety features.
- Leading short practical on\-the\-water training courses to teach guests narrowboat handling, steering and canal etiquette.
- Advising visitors on canal navigation rules, local landmarks and recommended overnight mooring spots.
- Regular boat maintenence and care of the site's outdoor spaces with both routine gardening and structural repairs to the marina and grounds.
- On\-Call Assistance. Periodically providing technical support over the phone or in person to hirers during and after operational hours.
- Off season 'winterisation' of the boats which include repainting and servicing the fleet for the following season.
