Accountabilities
- Translate business needs and value opportunities into clear technology requirements and contribute to the design of solutions that deliver defined operational outcomes.
- Support vendor technology evaluations, provide technical recommendations to appropriate design authorities, and help assess emerging IoT, automation, robotics, and connected technologies.
- Contribute to solution architecture definition and ensure that technology implementations remain aligned with applicable standards, infrastructure requirements, security considerations, and project objectives.
- Develop, integrate, deploy, and test end-to-end technology solutions involving IIoT, sensors, telemetry, robotics, software, and embedded systems.
- Prepare for and support field testing, proof-of-concept deployments, Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, and operational technology deployments.
- Design, document, execute, and improve quality assurance and automation testing processes, recording test outcomes, fixes, upgrades, and validation results.
- Validate data end to end, from field devices and sensors through connectivity and processing layers to cloud-based platforms and applications.
- Install and test software across operating-system and application layers, including relevant Linux, Robot Operating System, and embedded environments.
- Work with vendors and operational teams during deployments, provide feedback on technical issues, and identify opportunities for product and solution improvements.
- Provide remote support for field installations and operational environments, including device maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing technical support.
- Create or adapt online dashboards and data visualization solutions to present operational and technology data effectively.
- Contribute to data processing activities involving computer vision, artificial intelligence, and machine learning where relevant to operational technology solutions.
- Maintain awareness of intellectual asset management considerations and commercial models associated with emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Bring practical field experience working within industrial or operational environments, ideally with exposure to complex technology deployments.
- Have strong knowledge and hands-on experience in automation, with exposure to robotics programming and industrial technology systems.
- Demonstrate experience with operating systems applicable to robotics and industrial automation, including Robot Operating System (ROS), Linux, and/or other embedded operating systems.
- Have experience across systems integration, software and hardware integration, testing, commissioning, and deployment of technology solutions.
- Understand networking technologies such as Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and cellular connectivity and how they support connected industrial environments.
- Have experience with field testing, proof-of-concept deployments, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Demonstrate knowledge of sensor configuration, end-to-end device maintenance and upgrades, data processing, and connected-device troubleshooting.
- Have exposure to computer vision, AI/ML, data integration, data management, data transformation, and related digital technologies.
- Be familiar with programming languages and able to understand or work with software used in automation and connected technology environments.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Communicate clearly and confidently, with strong presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Be a collaborative team player who can also operate independently, take initiative, and work with limited guidance when required.
- Be comfortable working quickly, managing competing priorities, and delivering to demanding deadlines.
- Hold a relevant degree, technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience within the oil and gas or broader energy industry is advantageous.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness and an understanding of how emerging technologies can create operational value.

- The role will initially be based in Sunbury, London, with a planned move to Timber Square, Southwark, around Q4 2027–Q1 2028.
