Overview:
As Operations Agent Drayage, you will be responsible for the daily coordination and execution of container drayage movements between ports, terminals, depots, warehouses, and customer locations. You play a key operaitonal role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and reliable port\-related logistics flows within AIT's global forwarding network. This position requires strong operational coordination, proactive communication, and the ability to perform under the dynamic conditions of port and drayage operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and monitor container drayage operations within the port and hinterland
- Plan and schedule container pickups, deliveries, and returns in line with operational priorities
- Communicate daily with truckers, terminals, depots, and internal AIT teams
- Track container status and proactively manage delays, congestion, or operational exceptions
- Ensure correct handling of loaded and empty containers, including demurrage and detention control
- Verify transport instructions, container numbers, seals, and port documentation
- Ensure compliance with port regulations, safety standards, and AIT operational procedures
- Accurately register and update all activities in AIT’s transport management systems
- Handle operational incidents and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of drayage processes and service performance
- Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs and guidelines are followed and met
- Ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines
- Process and comply with all requirements listed by regulatory agencies
- Network with corresponding departments to ensure files are billed and posted prior to end of month
- Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable)
- Contribute actively to a healthy and secure work environment by reporting unsafe/ unsecure/ unhealthy conditions and possible improvements
- Experience in drayage, container transport, or port logistics
- Familiarity with port terminals, depots, and trucking operations
- Basic understanding of container equipment and documentation
- Utilizes established procedures but decides action within task
- Must be able to perform in a fast pace / high volume work environment
- Attention to detail
- Problem Solving
- Fluent oral and written English required, Dutch is an advantage
- Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications) preferred
- Cargo Wise Software experience a plus
- ITAR, Dangerous Goods or TSA work experience / regulations
- VGB security clearance (or the ability to obtain it) is required for this position
