Live \& Love it, is a children’s service supporting children aged 0\-16 years and their families. Our studio is set in scenic grounds in Horsham. We strive to offer a family feel where children and families feel at home, and work with us as part of their neurodiversity affirming team to achieve their goals and aspirations. When we are not in a session you will find us in our slippers, trying out games in the therapy room, taking a walk, or working on new projects.

We are looking for a Paediatric Occupational Therapist who is able to:

  • Complete assessments using a range of standardised and non\-standardised tools. All assessments and therapy plans at Live \& Love are personalised and therapists have the autonomy to make decisions in the best interest of the families they work with, supported by their supervisor.

  • Prepare Occupational Therapy assessment reports.

  • Set functional strengths based goals in collaboration with families and children using child\-friendly goal\-setting tools.

  • Deliver 1:1 therapy sessions, at our studio in Horsham using a range of therapeutic approaches as deemed appropriate for the child.

  • Devise regulation toolkits (*guidance and activities to support regulation*) and therapy programmes to work on specific skills.

  • Work in close liaison with staff in the local schools to provide advice and coaching to embed support into their school routines.

  • Explore topics of interest and facilitate staff development within our weekly team meetings and provide supervision of more junior staff members.
Live \& Love it, Team members hold a diverse caseload whilst also pursuing project development in an area of interest. The diverse team skill set allows for peer supervision alongside the fortnightly formal supervision for all.

Working week:

  • Full time employed position (37\.5 hours paid)

  • Working hours to be decided post interview to accommodate your commitments (eg. a class or family routine, school drop\-off/pick\-up). The team work a range of different hours, some work 4 long days, some work 5 days per week with shorter days to accommodate their personal life.

  • Our studio is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

  • The team all stop for lunch at 12\.30pm every day.

Accessibility/Facilities:

Designated parking right outside the building. There is 1 step and a threshold up into the main entrance. three of the therapy rooms are located up a flight of stairs, two are on lower floors. One therapy room is a short walk across the car park accessed via level access door.

Essential criteria:

  • Driver (*There is no public transport to our location and the role does involve occasional visits out to childrens homes and schools*)

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist

  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration

  • Previous experience working with children and young people

  • A commitment to working within a neurodiversity affirming model of practice.
Specialism in an area of Occupational Therapy

We are looking for a therapist who would like a role that allows them to bring their area of specialist interest to the practice and integrate this at all 3 levels of service provision (Universal, Targeted and Specialist).

Possible areas:

  • Equipment provision/posture management

  • DIR Floortime

  • Ayres Sensory Integration

  • Sensory Attachment Intervention

  • Feeding

  • Occupational Performance Coaching

  • Cognitive Orientation Occupational Performance

  • Use of a specific occupation in practice (e.g. Yoga)

  • Experience supporting a specific client group using a range of approaches leading to specialism. (E.g. Brain injury)

  • Young people’s mental health (e.g CBT, ICBT)
