Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Salary: £60\- £80ph (depending on experience)

Working Hours: 1\-2 days per week, Term Time Only

We teach in small groups with a dedicated and experienced teaching team, ensuring that each student receives individual attention and care. We create individual learning packages to support our students' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Sessions:

  • Deliver one\-to\-one and small group art therapy sessions to students aged 11–25, addressing sensory, motor, functional and self\-care needs.

  • Develop tailored intervention plans based on individual assessments to promote students’ independence, participation, and regulation.

  • Use a range of therapeutic approaches, including sensory integration strategies, fine and gross motor skill development, and activities of daily living.

  • Monitor and track students’ progress through standardised assessments, goal\-setting, and therapeutic observations.

  • Foster a safe and supportive environment where students feel empowered to practise and develop functional skills.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
  • Assess students’ occupational performance in areas such as motor coordination, handwriting, sensory processing, and self\-care.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assessments, therapy sessions, and outcomes.

  • Provide regular feedback to students, teachers, SENCOs, and parents regarding progress and recommendations.

  • Contribute to the development and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Work:
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other therapists to ensure a holistic approach to students’ education and well\-being.

  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss students' progress, treatment plans, and educational needs.
Curriculum and Therapy Integration:
  • Ensure occupational therapy interventions align with the school’s personalised learning approach and broader therapeutic provision.

  • Adapt therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities, and developmental challenges.

  • Support curriculum access by recommending adaptations, assistive equipment, and sensory\-friendly approaches.

  • Contribute to personalised learning packages that integrate therapy and educational goals.
Safeguarding and Professional Standards:
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well\-being of all students.

  • Maintain professional standards in all interactions, adhering to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Ethics.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development (CPD) to keep up\-to\-date with the latest therapeutic approaches and best practices.
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in line with professional guidelines.

  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to school reports and reviews on student progress.

  • Ensure that all activities and documentation comply with school policies and HCPC requirements.
About You

Essential

  • HCPC\-registered Occupational Therapist.

  • Minimum of 2 years' post\-qualification experience, ideally working with children and young people.

  • Experience working with students with SEN and SEMH needs, including ASD, ADHD, and trauma.

  • Knowledge of sensory processing, fine/gross motor skills, and functional independence.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and provide constructive feedback to students and staff.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS).
Desirable
  • Experience in a school or alternative provision setting.

  • Familiarity with the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.

  • Postgraduate training in Sensory Integration or relevant therapeutic approaches.

  • Knowledge of trauma\-informed and neurodiversity\-affirming practices.
