Skills and Knowledge Needed:

Worked within a Care Home setting for a Minimum of 2 years.

JOB PURPOSE
The Team Leaders will work as a committed member of the Team within the Home and support the Registered nurses specifically taking the lead responsibility for planning the care assistants’ daily allocation and staff training in Moving and Handling. To monitor the standard of care provided by care staff to residents physically and psychologically
To actively promote and encourage as much personal independence and choice as possible within the activities of daily living and ensure person centred care is given at all times.
The role involves the supporting of Registered Nurses on duty and completing basic nursing staff with blood sugar Monitoring, taking of Residents temperatures and recording blood pressure. Simple wound dressings following the wound care plans and reporting back to the Registered Nurse on duty the outcomes of all procedures
Monitoring the Duty Rota for Care staff in the absence of the Home Manager to ensure that the appropriate level is available at all times.
Taking part in Care staff supervision and ensuring that 8 weekly supervisions are Training based.
A staff development programme operates and all staff are required to keep up\-to\-date with legislation changes and the Home’s policies and procedures. Mandatory training must be attended.
CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS
The post holder will hold the relevant qualifications; have experience of working within a Dual Registered Care Home and proven knowledge and empathy of caring for the older person. It is essential that the post holder show leadership, a flexible attitude to work pattern and excellent communication skills. The role involves working at week ends to ensure service quality on a 7\-day\-a\-week basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- To ensure that the residents receive personalised quality care as identified in their care plan and ensure all entries are concise but relevant.
- To write, give and receive reports to Care staff Cover Care staff sickness, and ensure care staffing levels are maintained.
- To ensure that the named carer and key\-worker system work effectively.
- To ensure that the image and reputation of the Home is both promoted and safeguarded at all times.
- To ensure that the atmosphere of the Home is friendly and that the Residents feel safe and secure.
- To demonstrate a commitment to the holistic care of the residents, promoting the highest standards of work performance by the care staff team
- To maintain a high standard of care to residents with Dementia needs ensure that all staff treat residents with dementing Illness with respect and understanding., and liaise with the community psychiatric team.
- To assist Registered Nurses with Blood Glucose Monitoring, temperature and Blood Pressure monitoring and after training perform simple dressing a following wound care plans.
- To liaise with the Home Manager to discuss malfunctioning equipment.
- To ensure that Residents risk assessments for moving and handling are complete and accurate and care plans reflect this
- To support the Home Manager to maintain the full occupancy of the home. To ensure that vacant rooms are always available for viewing, in a well presented and welcoming style and that the potential resident enquiry is managed in a sensitive and professional manner.
- To undertake the Care staff supervisions and development appraisals and report back to the Home Manager of any issues that need addressing.
- \` To ensure that the Company’s policies and procedures are complied with at all times and in accordance with CQC guidelines and that all requirements of external Regulatory Bodies.
- To carry out any other duties as requested by the Home Manager or Deputy Manager to cover any eventualities that may arise in the running of the Home
- Ensuring that a motivated team spirit is developed and that the highest standards are implemented, so making staff feel valued
- To ensure that every effort is made to cover absence of care and ancillary staff when absence is notified.
Communication – to be personally aware of how the Home’s communication systems operate and to be fully conversant with the Policies, Procedures and objectives.
Quality Assurance
All staff are accountable for the quality of their own work and for the operation of the relevant parts of the quality systems. To assist in the preparation of monthly quality Assurance Audits
Best Practice
To ensure care practices are developed in line with Company Objectives.
Health and Safety
To comply with the Company’s policies and procedures and have a duty to advise Home Manager or her deputy of any situation that is deemed unsafe within the Home.
Environment
To show concern and respect for the fabric, decoration, equipment and building and be aware of the high standards of the environment.
Meetings
To participate in care and general staff meetings within the home
