We are a large busy independent nursery with well equipped indoor and outdoor areas for children aged 3 months to 4 years.

We are looking for an experienced practitioner to join our highly skilled staff to support a child with SEN on a 1:1 basis over 2 days for 15 hours per week term time.

If you have experience working with children on a one to one basis, then this position may be for you. The right candidate will have secure knowledge of the EYFS and ideally have previous experience of supporting children with SEN.

Experience of creating and completing support plans is desirable as well as a recognised SEN qualification/ training. The ability to use a range of interventions to support learning and development is also beneficial.

All candidates must hold a full and relevant LEVEL 3 EYE qualification.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· To keep records of your key child’s development and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.

· To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment so all children can develop and learn.

· To follow the Nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure.

· Support parents/carers and other family members.

· To ensure the provision of a high\-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.

· To advise the Manager of any concerns.

· To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre, etc.

· To be flexible within working practices of the setting. Be prepared to help where needed including undertaking certain domestic jobs, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, etc. within the Nursery.

· To work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is fulfilled.

· Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting as deemed by the management team.

· To respect confidentiality of all information received.

· Look upon the Nursery as a “whole” where can your help be most utilised. Be constantly aware of the individual needs of all children.

· Ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained.

· Recording accidents/incidents on the relevant forms. Ensure the Duty Manager has signed the report before a parent receives it.

· Ensure someone known and agreed by the Nursery and parent collects the child.

  • Reducing transition points throughout the day to allow uninterrupted play

  • Promoting well\-being

  • Helping to develop communication skills

  • Providing key adult supervision

  • Meeting sensory needs

  • Meeting personal care and hygiene needs.
