About the Role:

Twinkle Toes Nursery is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Nursery General Manager to lead our brand\-new nursery in Selby. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about early years education and wants the freedom to build and shape a nursery environment with their own ideas, leadership style, and vision.

As Nursery General Manager, you will oversee the day\-to\-day running of the nursery, lead and support staff, ensure high standards of care and education, and create a warm, safe, and engaging environment for children, parents, and employees.

You will be supported by a flexible and experienced owner who operates other successful nurseries, alongside a network of Nursery Managers who can provide advice, mentoring, and operational support whenever needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursery

  • Lead, motivate, and manage the nursery team

  • Ensure the nursery complies with EYFS and Ofsted requirements

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, care, and education

  • Support staff development, training, and performance management

  • Manage occupancy, admissions, and nursery growth

  • Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive nursery culture

  • Monitor health and safety procedures throughout the setting

  • Plan staffing levels and manage rotas effectively

  • Work closely with the owner and wider nursery group to support the successful launch and development of the nursery

  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Oversee the planning and delivery of educational programmes that promote children's development and wellbeing.

  • Manage day\-to\-day administrative tasks, including budgeting, staffing schedules, and resource allocation.

  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to promote positive engagement.

  • Monitor health and safety protocols to maintain a secure environment for children and staff.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure that all activities adhere to legal requirements, health \& safety standards, and organisational policies.
Qualifications \& Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years

  • Previous experience in a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, or senior leadership role within an early years setting

  • Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to manage and inspire a team

  • Organised, proactive, and passionate about childcare
Desirable:
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership or Early Years

  • Experience opening or developing a nursery setting

  • First Aid and Safeguarding certifications

  • Experience with nursery administration and occupancy management
Personal Qualities:

Skills

  • Organised with exceptional planning skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise confidently with staff, parents, and external agencies.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to childcare provision in the UK.

  • Ability to problem\-solve swiftly whilst maintaining a calm demeanour under pressure.
