The Schoolhouse Hotel \& Gastrobar is a 4\-star boutique property in the heart of Ballsbridge, D4\. Originally built in 1859, our historic Victorian building offers 31 individually designed guest rooms and a thriving gastrobar. We're a close\-knit team that takes great pride in creating memorable guest experiences – warm, genuine hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.

THE ROLE

The Night Porter is one of the most trusted positions in the hotel. Working overnight (11pm–7am), you are the face of the Schoolhouse when the rest of the team has gone home – responsible for the safety and security of our guests, our team, and our building. This role calls for someone who is calm, vigilant, and completely dependable. Integrity and good judgement are non\-negotiable.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain the security of the hotel throughout the night – carrying out regular patrols of all guest floors, public areas, the gastrobar, back office, stairways, and external entrances


• Be the primary point of contact for guests overnight – welcoming late arrivals, handling check\-ins, and responding to any queries or concerns with care and professionalism


• Monitor and control access to the building, ensuring only authorised individuals can enter


• Have a full working knowledge of fire procedures and emergency protocols; know the configuration of the hotel and be prepared to act calmly in any situation


• Maintain the reception area and front entrance to a high standard throughout the night


• Complete nightly checklists and any cleaning or set\-up tasks as directed, which may include preparation of the breakfast area or function rooms


• Accurately complete the night handover report for the morning team


• Process any overnight reservations or late\-arriving guest payments when required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A track record of reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness – this is a role you’ll often carry out alone


• Previous experience in a night porter, security, or overnight hospitality role is preferred


• A warm, approachable manner with guests, combined with the confidence to enforce hotel policies when needed


• Strong situational awareness – the ability to spot something that doesn’t feel right and respond appropriately


• Fluent English, spoken and written, for clear communication with guests and the morning team


• A calm, steady presence – someone who can handle the unexpected without fuss


• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision

Familiarity with a hotel PMS (Hotsoft or Opera) is helpful but not essential – training will be provided

Pay: €15\.00\-€16\.50 per hour
