Band 7 Physiotherapy Advanced Practitioner Post

Midlothian Community Respiratory Team (MCRT), Intermediate Care Team.

There is 1 WTE permanent Band 7 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner available in Midlothian Community Respiratory team (MCRT).

MCRT is nationally recognised for delivering high\-quality care to patients with COPD in the community. We prevent hospital admissions, treat acute exacerbations at home, and provide holistic respiratory care. The team includes: Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners, Specialist Physiotherapists, a Dietitian, a Psychologist and a Clinical Support Worker

We have also developed the MCRT\+ pathway, supporting patients with other respiratory conditions and enabling short\-term home\-based care post\-hospital discharge.

We accept referrals from GPs, hospital staff, SAS, and community healthcare professionals.

Innovation and Technology

We are committed to integrating technology and healthcare innovation to enhance patient care:

  • Near Me video consultations

  • Population\-level digital dashboards to improve care delivery

  • Collaboration with Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland to increase referrals and community support
Role Purpose
  • Deliver high\-quality, evidence\-based respiratory care, treating patients at the right time and place.

  • Supervise physiotherapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers, and students.

  • Deputise for the team lead in meetings within the specialist clinical area.

  • Develop and deliver training programmes for professionals and carers, increasing understanding of therapy processes and interventions for managing patients’ medical and social needs.

  • Maintain strong links with secondary care respiratory colleagues to optimise patient outcomes.
