An exciting opportunity for a Neonatal Sister/Charge Nurse has arisen for an enthusiastic, forward thinking nurse/midwife with experience of working in a clinical NICU setting. The post holder will fulfil a key role in supporting and coordinating a dedicated team of nursing and support staff in the delivery of high quality care. The unit is a friendly, vibrant, diverse and supportive multi\-disciplinary team where you will be welcomed to join and make a difference in the care of neonates and their families.

The post is open to candidates with suitable experience and a commitment to supporting staff and improving care. The role will require an individual with good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. They must be able to demonstrate an understanding of change management, team dynamics and appreciate the demands of delivering an efficient and effective service which meets the requirements of neonates and their families.

You will be part of an MDT working within a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within the Southwest Neonatal Network serving the northern part of the network. The unit has 34 cots comprising of 8 intensive care, 8 high dependency and 18 special care cots.

A minimum of 23 hours per week will be considered for this post.

You will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team on the neonatal unit and be actively involved in providing a high standard of care. you will be expected to demonstrate a high level of neonatal nursing assessment and clinical skills by supporting the nursing team in providing quality care to patients and their families.

To ensure that delegation of tasks is performed equitably, effectively, in accordance with the nurse’s individual skills, development needs and within clear parameters of responsibility

To act as coordinator on shift and respond to emergency situations within the division

Build and maintain relationships with Network and local community groups to help facilitate closer working with our partner trust UHBW and across the wider SWODN.
