Role Purpose
----------------

The Multi\-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Qualified Electrician) plays a key role in supporting the safe, compliant and efficient operation of Avoca's retail, hospitality, food production, distribution and support facilities.The role is primarily focused on electrical maintenance, fault finding, statutory compliance and asset reliability. The role also supports planned preventative maintenance, facilities projects and reasonable general building maintenance activities across the Avoca estate.

ROLE BALANCE

Electrical work is the priority, representing the main technical focus of the position. The successful candidate will also provide practical multi\-skilled facilities support, help minimise downtime and contribute to projects and continuous improvement across all Avoca locations.

What You'll Do
------------------

1\. ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND COMPLIANCE

Carry out electrical maintenance, repairs and fault finding across commercial, retail, hospitality and food production environments.

Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, including power outages, tripping circuits, lighting faults, defective wiring and equipment breakdowns.

Inspect and maintain distribution boards, lighting systems, electrical installations, motors, pumps and related equipment within the scope of competence and authorisation.

Complete emergency lighting inspections, testing and accurate record keeping in accordance with relevant standards and company procedures.

Support electrical installations, modifications, upgrades and energy\-efficiency projects.

Ensure electrical work is completed safely, competently and in line with current regulations, safe systems of work and Avoca procedures.

2\. PLANNED AND REACTIVE MAINTENANCE

Complete planned preventative maintenance activities to agreed schedules and standards.

Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, breakdowns and urgent issues, prioritising safety and business continuity.

Identify recurring faults and recommend practical corrective or preventative actions.

Record completed work, findings, parts used and follow\-up requirements accurately within the CMMS or maintenance management system.

Participate in emergency response and on\-call arrangements where required.

3\. FACILITIES AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Support routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, Building Management Systems, fire alarm systems and other building services within the scope of training and competence.

Undertake reasonable general maintenance duties, including minor plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and building\-fabric repairs.

Support basic refrigeration housekeeping and preventative activities, such as cleaning accessible filters or condensers, where trained and safe to do so. Specialist refrigeration work will remain with appropriately qualified contractors.

Maintain tools, equipment, work areas and the company vehicle in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.

4\. PROJECTS AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Support site projects, refurbishments, equipment installations, planned shutdowns and infrastructure improvements.

Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, safety, energy efficiency and operational performance.

Provide practical technical input to planned works and support commissioning or handover activities where required.

Work collaboratively with the Facilities Manager and site teams to minimise disruption to customers, colleagues and operations.

5\. CONTRACTOR AND SITE SUPPORT

Support contractors on site, including inductions, access arrangements, permits to work and monitoring of activities where required.

Review or support the review of risk assessments and method statements within the role holder's competence and escalate concerns to the Facilities Manager.

Confirm that work areas are left safe and operational and that relevant completion records, certificates and documentation are received.

Provide practical role support to new starters as required, without formal line\-management responsibility.

6\. HEALTH, SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE

Comply with Health \& Safety, Environmental, Food Safety and site\-specific requirements.

Follow Lock Out / Tag Out procedures, permit systems, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Identify hazards, report defects promptly and take appropriate action to protect customers, colleagues, contractors and assets.

Support statutory inspections, audits, compliance records and corrective action programmes.

Work within the limits of qualification, competence and authorisation, engaging specialist contractors where required.

What You'll bring :
-----------------------

  • Recognised electrical craft qualification, such as a National Craft Certificate or equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Qualified electrician with practical electrical fault\-finding and diagnostic capability.

  • A full clean driving licence.

  • Relevant maintenance experience as a newly qualified electrician or up to two years' post\-qualification experience.

  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance and safe electrical working practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical information.

  • Strong problem\-solving, organisation and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites and manage changing priorities.

  • Experience in retail, hospitality, food production, manufacturing or other commercial environments.

  • Experience with HVAC, Building Management Systems, fire alarm systems or maintenance management software.

  • Emergency lighting inspection, testing and record\-keeping experience.

  • Basic refrigeration experience, including cleaning accessible filters or condensers and working with specialist refrigeration contractors.

  • Experience supporting contractors, permits to work, RAMS and site projects.

  • Awareness of energy\-efficiency, asset\-reliability or continuous\-improvement initiatives.
Working Pattern and Flexibility
-----------------------------------

The role will generally operate within agreed core working hours that support the needs of the business. Flexibility is required for travel between Avoca locations and, where necessary, for emergency response, on\-call arrangements, planned shutdowns, projects or work that must be completed outside normal trading or operating hours.

Reasonable notice will be provided where possible. Emergency maintenance requirements may occasionally require a more immediate response.

Physical Nature of the Role
-------------------------------

This is an active, hands\-on and mobile role. It may involve driving between locations, standing, walking, working at height using approved access equipment, working in plant or service areas, moving tools or materials, and completing maintenance tasks in varying conditions. All work must be completed in line with training, risk assessments, manual\-handling guidance and Avoca safety procedures.

Electrical maintenance and statutory compliance requirements are completed safely and accurately.

Planned preventative maintenance is completed to schedule and properly documented.

Reactive issues are prioritised and resolved safely, with downtime and operational disruption minimised.

Repeat faults are identified and practical preventative actions are recommended.

Maintenance records, certificates and CMMS information are complete and current.

Contractors and site works are supported effectively and safely.

Projects, upgrades and improvement initiatives are delivered with minimal disruption.

Strong, professional relationships are maintained with the Facilities Manager, site teams, contractors and other stakeholders.
