As our manufacturing operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced, practical and highly versatile Multi\-Skilled Maintenance \& Facilities Engineer to join our team.

The Role

We are looking for a genuinely multi\-skilled engineer and practical problem\-solver who can take ownership of the day\-to\-day maintenance of our manufacturing facility, equipment and building services.

This is a highly varied, hands\-on role.

We want someone who is equally comfortable diagnosing a fault on a piece of equipment, repairing a dishwasher or cooking hob, investigating an electrical or mechanical problem on a flow\-wrapping machine, fixing a pump or motor, dealing with a plumbing issue, or carrying out general repairs around the facility.

You won't be expected to be a specialist in every piece of equipment we operate. However, you should have enough electrical, mechanical and practical engineering experience to fault\-find, diagnose problems, replace components and carry out repairs yourself wherever reasonably possible.

Where specialist support is required, you will identify the problem, coordinate the appropriate contractor or OEM and help get the equipment operational again as quickly as possible.

Key Responsibilities

You will take day\-to\-day ownership of maintenance and practical engineering support across our manufacturing, warehouse and office facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Electrical and mechanical fault\-finding across a variety of equipment


• Diagnosing and repairing equipment such as flow\-wrapping machines, dishwashers, cooking equipment, hobs, pumps, motors, conveyors and other electrical/mechanical equipment


• Replacing components including motors, sensors, switches, heating elements, pumps, belts, bearings, relays and other serviceable parts


• Supporting troubleshooting and first\-line maintenance of manufacturing and packaging equipment


• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime


• Investigating equipment failures and identifying root causes


• Basic electrical repairs and installations within your level of competence and qualification


• Plumbing repairs including leaks, taps, toilets, sinks, pipework and pumps


• Basic HVAC and building\-services troubleshooting


• General mechanical, carpentry and building repairs


• Installing equipment, shelving, fixtures and furniture


• Painting, decorating and making good where required


• Maintaining doors, locks and other building hardware


• Supporting installation and commissioning of new equipment


• Maintaining appropriate spare parts, tools and maintenance consumables


• Keeping straightforward maintenance and servicing records


• Working with equipment manufacturers and specialist contractors when required


• Proactively identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and the facility itself


• Responding quickly to breakdowns and helping minimise operational downtime

We're looking for someone with broad practical engineering experience rather than an extremely narrow specialism.

You may have worked as a Multi\-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Facilities Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Technician or Engineering Technician.

You will ideally have experience within manufacturing, food production, packaging, FMCG, hospitality engineering, commercial facilities or another environment containing a wide variety of electrical and mechanical equipment.

You should have:

• Strong practical mechanical aptitude


• Electrical and mechanical fault\-finding experience


• Experience repairing equipment rather than simply arranging contractors


• Confidence dismantling equipment, identifying faults and replacing components


• Good understanding of motors, pumps, switches, sensors, heating elements and basic control systems


• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment


• Strong general maintenance and practical skills


• Ability to read basic technical manuals, drawings and wiring diagrams


• Experience using hand and power tools


• A proactive approach to preventative maintenance


• Good problem\-solving skills and the ability to work independently


• An understanding of where your own competence ends and specialist support is required


• A strong approach to Health \& Safety

We don't expect one person to have everything, but experience in several of the following would be particularly valuable:

• Electrical qualification / 18th Edition


• City \& Guilds, NVQ, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification


• Mechanical engineering or maintenance


• Packaging machinery, particularly flow\-wrapping equipment


• Food or FMCG manufacturing equipment


• Conveyors, motors, pumps and gearboxes


• Sensors, relays and basic control systems


• Pneumatics


• Commercial kitchen equipment


• Plumbing


• HVAC/building services


• PAT testing


• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)


• Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment

This role will suit someone who has built up a broad range of engineering and practical skills over their career and genuinely enjoys understanding how things work and fixing them.

When a machine stops working, we want your first instinct to be:

“Let me have a look and work out what's wrong.”

You don't need to be an expert in every machine or every trade. What matters is having the technical foundation, curiosity and practical experience to diagnose a wide range of problems and determine the best way to solve them.

You'll become the go\-to person for practical engineering and maintenance problems across the site, helping us keep our equipment, manufacturing environment and wider facility running reliably.

Pay: £38,000\.00\-£45,000\.00 per year
