Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Multi\-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team within a fast\-paced textile manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving a wide range of textile production machinery and site equipment to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
This role requires both electrical and mechanical maintenance expertise, with a proactive approach to fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement.
This is a night shift position which will be 22:00\-06:00
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on textile manufacturing machinery and associated equipment.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement projects to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
- Install and commission new machinery and equipment when required.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in compliance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records using maintenance logs.
- Work collaboratively with production teams to achieve operational targets.
- Proven experience in a multi\-skilled maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault\-finding abilities.
- Experience working with PLC\-controlled machinery.
- Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a production environment.
- Good understanding of health \& safety procedures.
- Excellent problem\-solving and communication skills.
- Experience within the textile manufacturing industry.
- 17th/18th Edition electrical qualification.
- PLC programming/troubleshooting experience.
- Welding or fabrication skills.
- Experience using CMMS systems.
- NVQ Level 3 / City \& Guilds in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Time\-served apprenticeship preferred.
- HNC/HND in Engineering desirable.
- Reliable and proactive attitude.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Team player with a flexible approach to work.
- Committed to continuous improvement and high engineering standards.
