Multi\-Skilled Field Service Engineer – Printers \& Retail Technology

Location: Field Based
Job Type: Full\-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Hours: Full\-time, plus overtime where required

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Multi\-Skilled Field Service Engineer to join our growing field service team.

This is a varied field\-based role supporting a wide range of technology across customer locations. We are particularly interested in engineers with experience in thermal transfer printers, office printers, retail technology, vending, parcel lockers or similar electro\-mechanical equipment.

You do not necessarily need experience across every product type. We are looking for someone with strong fault\-finding skills, a good technical background and the ability to learn and support different technologies.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will attend customer sites to carry out a combination of reactive repairs, preventative maintenance, installations and technical support.

Typical equipment may include:

  • Thermal transfer and barcode printers

  • Office inkjet and business printing equipment

  • Last\-mile delivery and parcel lockers

  • Vending equipment

  • Retail and EPOS technology

  • Peripheral devices and associated IT hardware

  • Other electro\-mechanical and technology\-based equipment
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Diagnosing and repairing equipment faults

  • Carrying out break/fix service visits

  • Completing preventative maintenance and servicing

  • Installing and commissioning new equipment

  • Replacing components and carrying out hardware upgrades

  • Supporting equipment rollouts and project work

  • Carrying out basic network and connectivity troubleshooting

  • Completing accurate service reports and job documentation

  • Managing van stock, spare parts and equipment

  • Working closely with our Helpdesk and Technical Support teams

  • Providing a professional and customer\-focused service at all times

  • Following customer site procedures and health \& safety requirements
About You

We are looking for someone who has previous experience in a field service, technical support or electro\-mechanical engineering role.

Experience with any of the following would be particularly useful:

  • Zebra, Toshiba, Honeywell or similar thermal/barcode printers

  • Office printers, inkjet or multifunction printing equipment

  • EPOS and retail technology

  • Parcel or last\-mile delivery lockers

  • Vending machines

  • Payment technology

  • IT hardware and peripherals

  • Electro\-mechanical equipment
You should have:
  • Strong diagnostic and fault\-finding skills

  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Basic IT and networking knowledge

  • The ability to work independently in the field

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • A flexible approach to learning new technologies

  • Good organisational and time\-management skills

  • A full UK driving licence
Manufacturer\-specific training can be provided, so we are equally interested in experienced multi\-skilled engineers who have worked on similar equipment and are keen to broaden their technical knowledge.

What We Offer

  • Permanent, full\-time employment

  • Competitive salary

  • Company vehicle

  • Company mobile phone and equipment

  • Overtime opportunities

  • Manufacturer and product training

  • Ongoing technical development

  • Varied work across multiple technologies and customers

  • Support from an experienced technical and service management team

  • Opportunities to develop within a growing field service organisation
Why Join Us?

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety rather than working on one product every day.

You could be repairing a thermal printer one day, installing retail technology the next and supporting parcel lockers or vending equipment later in the week.

If you are a practical, customer\-focused engineer who enjoys fault finding, working independently and learning new technology, we would like to hear from you.

Apply today with your CV and details of your relevant field service or technical experience.
