About Béres

Béres is a successful, family\-run business established in Sheffield in 1961\. We employ approximately 130 people across our bakery and production facility in Hillsborough and 14 sandwich shops throughout Sheffield.

We are especially well known for our freshly roasted pork sandwiches, which have earned a loyal following from customers across the city and beyond.

We are now looking for an experienced, practical and hands\-on Multi\-Site Store Manager to help maintain high standards and support the effective day\-to\-day operation of our shops.

The role

Working closely with our Senior Management Team and Area Supervisor, you will provide practical management support across all 14 shops.

This is a varied operational role involving regular site visits, compliance audits, employee development, and support with workplace issues. You will help ensure that every shop operates safely, consistently and in accordance with Béres’ standards, policies and values.

You will also assist with the opening and set\-up of new shops. This may require additional flexibility and longer working hours during the preparation period and initial weeks of trading.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the day\-to\-day operation of our shops and providing cover where required

  • Carrying out regular site visits and operational audits

  • Monitoring food safety, hygiene, and health and safety compliance

  • Completing maintenance audits, identifying issues and following up on required actions

  • Implementing and maintaining company standards, policies and operational procedures

  • Monitoring product presentation, cleanliness, service and overall brand standards

  • Supporting shop managers in addressing areas requiring improvement

  • Training, coaching and mentoring managers and other team members

  • Supporting staff inductions, ongoing training and performance development

  • Conducting staff appraisals and helping managers set clear objectives

  • Supporting the fair and consistent handling of employee concerns, conflicts and grievances

  • Assisting with disciplinary, attendance, performance and capability matters in accordance with company procedures

  • Helping to resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally

  • Promoting a positive working environment and consistently high standards of customer service

  • Reporting findings, concerns and recommended actions to senior management

  • Participating in a Sunday standby rota to help resolve urgent staffing or operational issues, and may include attending to cover a shift

  • Assisting with new shop openings, including operational set\-up, staff training and launch support. Additional flexibility and longer working hours may be required during the preparation, opening and early trading stages
About you

You will ideally have:

  • Previous management experience in retail, hospitality, catering or a food\-led environment

  • Experience of managing or supporting more than one location

  • A good working knowledge of food safety and health and safety requirements

  • Experience of carrying out site inspections or compliance audits

  • Confidence in training, coaching and developing employees

  • Experience of dealing appropriately with employee relations and performance matters

  • Strong communication, organisation and problem\-solving skills

  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel

  • The ability to produce and maintain clear records, reports and action plans

  • The ability to build positive working relationships at every level

  • A practical, flexible and hands\-on approach

  • The confidence to make decisions and address problems constructively

  • The flexibility to participate in the Sunday standby rota

  • The flexibility to work additional or varied hours when supporting new shop openings

  • A full valid driving licence and access to suitable transport
Food safety, health and safety, management or HR\-related qualifications would be an advantage.

Working hours

The position is for 40 hours per week, normally worked over five days out of six, Monday to Saturday.

A typical working day will begin between 7\.00am and 8\.00am and finish between 4\.30pm and 5\.30pm. Some flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business and provide support across different locations.

In addition, you will participate in a Sunday standby rota.

When supporting a new shop opening, additional flexibility and longer working hours may be required during the preparation period and initial weeks of operation.
