MEP Design Manager – MEP Contractor – £80,000
A leading MEP contractor is looking for an experienced MEP Design Manager to take ownership of design delivery across major building-services projects, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams.
The Role • Lead MEP design delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
- Manage the design process across mechanical, electrical and public health services.
- Review consultant designs for coordination, buildability and compliance.
- Lead design reviews and technical coordination meetings.
- Manage design programmes, deliverables and key design milestones.
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
- Review technical submissions, drawings, specifications and calculations.
- Identify design risks and develop practical solutions.
- Manage RFIs, technical queries and design changes.
- Support procurement and subcontractor engagement.
- Provide technical input into tenders and pre-construction activities.
- Work closely with commercial and project management teams.
- Ensure design information is suitable for construction.
- Monitor design quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Support value engineering and design optimisation.
- Manage the production and review of coordinated MEP information.
- Liaise with clients, architects, structural engineers and specialist consultants.
- Assist with programme planning and design resource requirements.
- Maintain accurate design records and documentation.
- Support commissioning, handover and close-out activities.
- Previous Design Manager / Senior Design Manager experience.
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
- Strong technical coordination and communication skills.
- Experience managing consultants and subcontractors.
- Ability to work across multiple project stages.
- Relevant engineering or construction qualification preferred.
