We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance & Risk to join a highly respected national organisation at an exciting stage of its development.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the organisation's financial strategy, with a particular focus on long-term financial sustainability.

Working closely with the CEO, Trustees and senior colleagues, you will provide strategic financial advice while also leading the day-to-day finance function and a small finance team.

This is an opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys operating as a business partner and strategic adviser, rather than simply overseeing the numbers.

  • Lead the operational finance function and a small finance team.

  • Ensure strong financial controls and successful year-end and audit processes.

  • Support the organisation's long-term financial sustainability.

Governance, Audit & Risk
  • Lead on financial governance, audit and risk management.

  • Act as secretariat for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.

  • Manage the organisation's risk management processes and risk register.

  • Lead on business continuity and financial risk planning.

  • Provide high-quality analysis and insight to support decision-making.

Strategic Development
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the organisation's next strategy.

  • Help develop financial strategies that support sustainable growth.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and Trustees to achieve strategic and operational objectives.

About You

We are looking for a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent commercial, analytical and interpersonal skills.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised accounting qualification, such as AAT Level 4 or equivalent, or chartered accountant status.

  • 3–5 years' finance experience within the charity sector.

  • Experience producing year-end/statutory accounts in accordance with Charities SORP.

  • Experience reporting to and advising Boards and/or committees.

  • Experience developing finance strategies to support financial sustainability.

  • Strong analytical and audit skills.

  • Experience or understanding of risk management and business continuity planning.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • The ability to operate confidently as a business partner and trusted adviser.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage both strategic and operational priorities.

  • High levels of personal and professional integrity.
