Member of the Finance & Audit Committee
The Diocese of Guildford is seeking volunteer members to join its Finance \& Audit Committee. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your expertise to the effective governance and stewardship of an organisation with an annual income of £17\.3 million and net assets of £215 million, helping to support churches, communities and ministry across Surrey and North East Hampshire.
As a member of the Finance \& Audit Committee, you will play an important role in advising the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) Trustees on financial matters, helping to ensure robust governance, effective risk management and strong financial stewardship for the future.

The Finance \& Audit Committee plays a key role in the governance of the DBF, providing oversight and assurance on matters including:
- Financial risk management and internal controls
- Budgets and financial planning
- Financial policies and management reporting
- Annual accounts and external audit arrangements
- Investment management and oversight

This is a voluntary and unremunerated position. As with most charity governance roles, members are not paid, although reasonable expenses incurred in connection with Committee business will be reimbursed.
In return, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Make a meaningful contribution to the financial health and sustainability of the Diocese.
- Use your professional expertise to support a significant charitable organisation.
- Work alongside Trustees, senior leaders and experienced committee members.
- Help ensure resources are managed effectively in support of the Church's mission and ministry.
The Committee normally meets four times each year, typically on weekday mornings. Members may occasionally be asked to contribute to ad hoc working groups or provide input between meetings.
Appointments are made for an initial term of three years, with the possibility of reappointment.
