The Hollies is a friendly, high\-achieving GP practice based on the edge of Tamworth town centre, providing care to approximately 15,000 patients.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Medical Secretary /administrator to join our busy administration team.
This is a varied and responsible role suited to someone with previous NHS, GP practice, or medical secretarial experience who is confident managing administrative tasks independently and using their own initiative in a fast\-paced environment.
The successful applicant will have a good understanding of healthcare pathways, hospital departments, referral processes, and medical terminology and will be confident dealing with a wide range of queries with minimal supervision.
Main duties include:
- Processing GP referrals and advice and guidance requests accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely communication with external healthcare providers and hospitals.
- Managing patient correspondence and requests received via the practice website and telephone system.
- Handling requests for medical letters, forms, reports, and medical examinations in liaison with GPs.
- Maintaining accurate and up\-to\-date patient records in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Supporting clinicians and the wider administrative team to ensure the smooth running of practice operations.
- Has previous experience in a medical secretary , NHS administration, or healthcare role.
- Has excellent organisational skills and can manage a high\-volume workload within strict timescales.
- Is confident working independently and using initiative to resolve non\-clinical queries appropriately.
- Has strong knowledge of referral pathways, hospital services, and medical terminology.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Has exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Is highly computer literate and confident using clinical systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Works well both independently and as part of a team.
