An opportunity has arisen for a friendly, motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Medical Secretary to the Sector Consultant Psychiatrists and Community Mental Health Team.

Working as a Medical Secretary, this varied and challenging post will provide an opportunity to work with the Consultant Psychiatrists and associated team based at Whyteman's Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

You will provide a high quality comprehensive secretarial and administrative service ensuring the effective and efficient running of the Team, while working under pressure with competing demands. Part of the role requires interaction with clients \& carers and you will be required to develop a level of understanding of mental health issues, a caring and calm nature and excellent communication skills. Exposure to crisis calls is routine.

You should have qualifications in business administration or secretarial services or equivalent. You will have significant experience within secretarial service and advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office packages is essential. You will possess excellent skills in organisation, minute\-taking, numeracy, audio and keyboard and be proficient in the working of email, spreadsheets and develop and maintain databases. You will also have the ability to work as a member of a team or on your own initiative with minimal supervision.

You will be expected to attend in\-house training opportunities for personal development and ongoing learning. Reasonable knowledge of the NHS is desirable and knowledge of medical terminology and/or previous experience of working in a health care setting will be advantageous.

You will at times be required to travel between locations within Fife.
