Medical Receptionist/Administrator
Job summary
Donnington Medical Practice is looking to recruit a part\-time Medical Receptionist, the role is for 25 hours per week contract and the available hours are varied. The surgery operates between 08\.30 to 18\.30 but you must be available to work on extended access clinics on a rota basis up to 20\.00\. You must be available to work across all of these hours on a rota basis \- we do not have set shifts. These hours will cover Monday to Friday with the flexibility that should a change in NHS contracts include weekend work, these will be on a rota basis too. Previous experience of working in a General Practice environment is desirable but certainly not essential as full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
The primary function of this role will be to assist in the smooth running of the reception desk and admin office. It will include main reception duties, dealing with patients face to face and via the telephone, processing prescriptions, appointment management, signposting patients to the appropriate service and other administrative duties. The answering of telephones is very prominent in this role. You should be able to multi\-task in a very busy environment, have an approachable and helpful manner and adhere to confidentiality at all times.
In addition, coding and processing of patient's medical data may be required. Excellent customer service is essential to this role together with ability to remain calm in an extremely busy and sometimes challenging environment along with the sensitivity to deal with our patients and remain efficient at all times. Other skills and attributes that would be desirable include teamwork, flexibility, empathy, humility and a positive work ethic. Salary will be £12\.71 per hour. There will be a standard, mandatory, six\-month probation period.
