About Us

Dr Thyne \& Partners is seeking a friendly, professional and highly organised Medical Administrator to join our busy administrative team.

This is an excellent opportunity to become a key member of a friendly and supportive GP practice serving approximately 9,500 patients in the vibrant Stockbridge area of Edinburgh.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth day\-to\-day operation of the reception area.

The ideal candidate will be committed to providing excellent customer service, be friendly and professional and have the ability to demonstrate tact, discretion and sensitivity when dealing with patients and confidential information. Previous experience in a healthcare environment would be desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

· Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.

· Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries.

· Schedule, amend, and cancel appointments.

· Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records.

· Handle confidential medical information in accordance with data protection requirements.

· Process correspondence, referrals, and administrative documentation.

· Manage incoming and outgoing mail and emails.

· Support clinicians and administrative staff with general office duties.

· Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.

Requirements

· Previous experience in a receptionist, administrative, or customer service role (medical or healthcare experience preferred but not essential).

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems.

· Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

· Professional, empathetic, and patient\-focused approach.

· Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.
