About the position

As a Mechanical Refrigeration Engineer, you will be a key player in designing and developing innovative industrial refrigeration and heat pump solutions for global clients. Working within a collaborative project team, you will contribute to sustainable, value\-engineered projects that balance technical excellence with budgetary and time constraints. If you’re passionate about advancing refrigeration technology, optimizing processes, and working on global projects, this role is for you.### Your responsibilities and tasks
- Engineer customized and standardized refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with CE\-PED requirements and customer specifications.
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts on projects, guiding junior engineers and hired professionals where needed.
- Collaborate with project teams including CAD, automation, and electrical engineers to deliver high\-quality refrigeration designs that meet international and local regulations.
- Conduct risk analysis and prepare detailed documentation for HAZOP and QHSE.
- Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) in partnership with automation engineers and ensure correct plant operations.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) with commissioning engineers and site supervisors.
- Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, including sales and service teams, as well as clients.
- Contribute to GEA\-wide standardization and innovation efforts, continuously improving refrigeration technologies.
Your profile and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering or experience in refrigeration technology.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial refrigeration, with knowledge of refrigeration plant safety, heat pumps, and regulatory directives.
- Proficiency in CAD systems (Autodesk Plant P\&ID) and MS Office.
- Familiarity with international design standards and regulatory compliance.
- Communication skills in Dutch is a plus. Understanding of English language is required.
- Preferred: Knowledge of industrial automation, ERP systems (Microsoft Axapta), and electrical schematics. VCA certification and marine refrigeration experience are beneficial.
